Just Sear: 5 Reasons Why You Should Just Sear Away Your Steaks!

by Anna

Fancy yourself a premium but affordable steak meal? Can’t seem to find a halal place that cooks your steak down to perfection? Or you just don’t have the time to prep your meal? Don’t you worry, Just Sear have got you covered!

Just Sear provides you with halal quality steak meat, engineered by an actual engineer who mastered the science of steak, Saheran Hamid, owner of Just Sear. If you don’t feel like dining in, you can even browse through their website, and get it delivered right to your doorstep. All that’s left for you to do is, defrost, pat it dry, and sear away!

Does the convenience sound too good to be true? Trust us, it’s not! Just Sear isn’t only simple, and here are 5 other reasons for you to give it a go:

1. Unique Dine-In Experience

A post shared by Just Sear – Premium Sous Vide Steaks (@just.sear)

When someone mentions a steak restaurant, the first thing that comes to your mind would be a high-end exclusive restaurant, right? We know, because that’s what comes first to our minds too; an air-conditioned, quiet ambience with just forks and knives clinking at the background with soft jazz music playing and where there are suits and ties everywhere. But that misconception is exactly what Saheran sought to change. He brought a whole new experience of dining in to us with a kopitiam-esque open-air restaurant.

The drinks were not marked up like most cafes and restaurants too (totally kopitiam priced)! He envisioned a future where steaks are sold at roadside stalls and hawkers; imagine a Makcik Nasi Lemak selling a Wagyu side dish to go with the Nasi Lemak, how incredible is that! So, if you feel like dropping by and giving them a visit, you can find them at M Suites, Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur. Parking space is easy, ambience is comfortable, and the owner is the friendliest! Also, you might want to look out for their next plan; popping up a stall at The Joke Factory by Harith Iskander in Publika.

2. Affordable Premium Product

We are all familiar on how much a standard steak would cost us. We tend to break our banks to indulge in premium quality steaks often. That is also what Just Sear wishes to change! So, Malaysian carnivores, hold your ribs, because they serve the rare MB9 Picanha for just RM120 per 250G! Other than that, their wagyu steaks only costs as low as RM60 to RM130. Even the most expensive item on the menu is only RM215 and it’s the sharing platter of grain fed tomahawk that weighs 1.1Kg. Affordable price for premium quality and good portion? What an absolute bargain.

Our favourite was easily the MB9 Picanha with truffle butter. It was heaven on Earth! It was juicy and has a sweet taste to the meat. When raw, the marbles on the meat was ethereal.

3. Creative and flavourful menu

Steak restaurants often only serve you with the usual menu and cooking style; letting you choose the degree of doneness. Well, in Just Sear, not only do they have a wide variety of steak parts you get to choose from, but they also have creative dishes included in the menu. One of the dishes in the menu that caught our eyes was the deep fried smoked briskets with spicy Sambal Asam. Briskets with our own Malaysian fusion to it? Get out!

Next, we all know Gordon Ramsay’s signature dish, the famous Beef Wellington. Here in Just Sear, they get absolutely creative with that one dish, putting their own modifications and twists to it. They serve 5 types of different Wellingtons (beef, lamb, chicken, wagyu, and salmon), and if you want it delivered, you could also peek at the sixth (Udang Galah & Salmon) Wellington at their website.

We dug into the chicken Wellington, and let us tell you; it was gorgeous! Flavours exploded in our mouths! The elements might come off strong by itself, especially the mushroom layered in between the pastry and the chicken. It was slightly overpowering at first, but everything goes well together! The chicken wasn’t dry and was flavourful. As for the pastry, it was fragrant and crunchy but soft at the same time.

If that is already blowing your mind, here’s one that’s going to even impress you, they’re currently working on a dish inspired by the Russian’s Coulibiac; Nasi Lemak Wellington! So, keep an eye for exciting new dishes to be added to their menu on their Instagram.

4. Delivery to your doorstep

The Movement Control Order that has been going on since last year has affected pretty much everyone, so Just Sear knows how hard it is for you carnivores to go out and get your steak stash. That is also exactly why they have made it easier when you are all cooped up in your home. They get it delivered straight to your front door with just one click on their website! Not only that they deliver raw meat and frozen ready-to-sear steaks packed and sealed in an airtight packaging, making sure of the hygiene and freshness of your meaty indulgence. With just three simple steps, you can enjoy a restaurant-like steak meal in the comforts of your own home.

5. Convenient to sear it anywhere

If you’re still not convinced enough, we are going to reiterate the simplicity of the steaks from Just Sear. When we told you it’s a simple 3 steps instructions, we mean it! Defrost, pat it dry, and just sear! Everything takes you less than 20 minutes. Defrosting takes 7 minutes, a few seconds to pat it dry, and sear it golden 30 seconds per side! Hey, that might even take you less than 10 minutes. No need for you to go through the hassle of prepping and trying to cook the steak to perfection and failing, Just Sear has already did all those for you.

So, what are you waiting for? Treat yourself to a juicy steak meal today with Just Sear, or maybe impress your dinner guests with your searing skills (Shhh, don’t worry, we won’t tell them Just Sear helped you out!)
