It’s always nice to treat yourself to a good fancy meal whenever you can afford to. It’s nice to treat yourself when you’re having a stressful day at work. If you’re looking for some new restaurants to try out on a special day, we got a few recommendations that will leave your mouth watering for more.

However, not everyone can afford to splurge so often. Many usually would opt for food court meals which are affordable. So how would you react if the Nasi Kandar meal you ordered costs RM86? Here’s what happened to this customer who was left speechless after seeing the bill.

Facebook user Cheng CB posted on the KL吹水站 group earlier this week to share his experience of eating his meal at a food court in Pavilion KL. The user shared that he was perplexed to see that the total amount for the Nasi Kandar meal he ordered came up to RM86! As seen in the photos posted, the meal consisted of 2 plates of rice (RM5), a quarter chicken (RM11), and a large squid (RM70).

The netizen asked the public in the Facebook group if this was the standard price for Nasi Kandar in Kuala Lumpur as he came all the way from Johor and has no prior knowledge of the food pricing in the area. When he asked the cashier why it was expensive, they explained that it was because he had taken the large squid but according to the customer, the squids were all the same size. The Johor man was apparently charged with the price of 2 squids despite only having 1 on his plate.

Netizens commented on the post with some speculating and joking about why the squid was so expensive while others advised the local to always check the price first before putting the food on his plate. One netizen shared that he had a similar dish but was charged much less.

At the time of writing, Cheng CB has yet to update about whether or not he filed a complaint to Pavilion KL. The mall has also not responded to the viral post. What do you think? Is the price for the Nasi Kandar justifiable?
