Some of us have begun to yearn for a decadent roast meal and festive gifts as Christmas approaches. If you’re anything like us and can’t stand the thought of waiting four hours for a turkey to roast, you’re more than welcome to join us for Christmas at a hotel buffet – we’re really into that! So we had no qualms accepting Sheraton PJ Hotel’s invitation for the media to assess their Christmas and New Year Buffet at their restaurant, The Feast.
The Feast provides customers with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, as well as a mouthwatering assortment of food. As it is the season to be jolly, Sheraton PJ is now offering the warmth and comfort of the holidays with a hefty feast.
As the Christmas spirit fills the air, the hotel’s team of creative chefs and associates have curated a variety of festive treats and gifts that make for perfect accompaniments for the season.
Festive Dining
At the all-day dining The Feast, you’ll be transported to the comfort of a cozy log cabin with an array of hearty, festive delicacies. Specially curated for the season, guests can delight in favourites such as Chicken Roulade with Mushroom Sauce, Fish Pie with Dill Cream Sauce, Gingerbread Ice-Cream and more.
Start off with the appetizer and salad bar that’s filled to the brim with various selections of fruits and vegetables. If you wish to have some wine and cheese before or after dinner, a cheeseboard complete with crackers, vegetable crudites, and sauces is also available. Additionally, there is a gourmet crustacean bar with a variety of fresh crustaceans, including oysters and scallops.
What surprises us the most is that this buffet doesn’t merely focus on Western cuisine. When you move from the Wok station and towards the back of the buffet, you notice a mix of Indian, Chinese, Italian and even Japanese food. Amazing, isn’t it? For sushi lovers, there’s assorted sushi to savour. As for Indian cuisine, there’s rice, assorted naan, tandoori chicken, fish curry, raita and assorted pickles. We managed to try the Jeera Pulao rice with tandoori chicken, raita and pickle. The combo was just heavenly!
Right near the Wok station, there were a few pots and we were curious to know what they contained. The contents were Grilled Chicken, Grilled Lamb, Baked Perch with Butter Sauce, Lamb Stew and many more. Our personal favourite was the Baked Perch with Butter Sauce. The fish was so tender and the butter sauce was perfect for a warm and cozy Christmas meal. The Grilled Lamb and Chicken were also great in flavour and were tender.
Next up, the Italian station. Two types of freshly baked pizzas were served and we absolutely loved the Magheritta Pizza. The pizza bread was super soft and the tomato puree gave a nice kick to the overall flavour of the pizza. It can be slightly sour if you don’t particularly enjoy tomato. They even served Chicken Taco. The chicken filling was great, but we were kind of disappointed with the taco shell, as they were hard to bite into.
Now, here comes our favourite part. The Feast offers lots and lots of dessert, as well as local delicacies. From a Christmas log cake to fruit cakes, there’s just lots to choose from. Two of our favourite were the Intense Chocolate cake and Cherry Bread Pudding. The chocolate cake was very intense, bitter-sweet, but moist. The Cherry Bread Pudding on the other hand was sweet and warm – you could have it anytime of the day. There was also a Cheesecake and it was super tempting, but upon tasting, it just didn’t fit our taste buds. The base of the cheesecake was crispy and sweet, but the cheesecake itself didn’t have that ‘cheesy’ flavour we were looking for. Besides baked goods, there was a Chocolate Fondue where you could dip marshmallows and dried fruits in melted chocolate; as well as an ‘ice kacang’ machine. Right near the entrance, there was a pancake station and freshly fried ‘kuih’ station. They were definitely good!
Overall, we really enjoyed our time at The Feast, as there was just so much to eat, and one plate was never enough. The food was good, the staff were friendly, the environment was super cozy and there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
