“It’s okay if you’re lost, we’re all a little lost and it’s alright.” Jane Marczewski, who was known by her stage name Nightbirde, became a breakout star when she auditioned and sang her hit song “It’s Ok” on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent”.

Sadly, the 31-year-old singer-songwriter passed away over the weekend after battling cancer for 4 years. Her family confirmed her death. The judges from the “AGT” family also took to social media to pay tribute to the talented lady.

@_nightbirde was such a bright inspirational light in all our lives.we must continue to live and learn from her words and lyrics. As much as I feel horribly about her passing I feel lucky to to have met, heard and known her.

“We, her family, are devastated by her passing and unimaginable loss. Many remember her from ‘America’s Got Talent’, where she performed her song ‘It’s OK’ and inspired millions of people around the globe with her messages of faith and never giving up,” the family said in a statement to USA Today.

“Those who knew her, enjoyed her larger-than-life personality and sense of humour. She had a witty joke for every occasion — even if the joke was on her. Her lasting legacy will be the gift of hope she gave to so many through her music and the strength she found in Jesus.”

Nightbirde earned a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell but had to drop out of the reality singing competition midway after her cancer had “taken a turn for the worse”. The cancer regrowth had taken over her lungs and liver. Although she put on a brave face, the Ohio-born artiste admitted that it was super difficult.

To quote Nightbirde, “You can’t wait until life is not hard anymore before you decide to be happy.” She didn’t just win our hearts, but also taught us grace and inspired us to live life to the fullest. May you sleep peacefully 🙁
