A singer’s job is not as easy as one may think. It’s more than just opening your mouth and singing a tune. You’ll need the confidence to sing in front of an audience, apply all the necessary techniques on your instrument, and of course, you’ll need to be able to carry the song emotionally in order to convey its message.
All of these aspects are important for a phenomenal performance. However, it’s also important for a singer to take care of their health, be it their vocal cords or other parts of their body. Jaclyn Victor recently revealed that she’s experiencing a certain health issue that’s preventing her from giving her best singing performance. Here’s the story:
The first Malaysian Idol winner, Jaclyn Victor shared details regarding her health during a recent press conference for the 9th season of the “Gegar Vaganza” singing competition. The singer revealed that her nose has progressively become too sensitive to her surroundings. Apparently, this is the first time she’s experiencing issues with her nose.
“My nose is too crooked but I’ve never had any problems before,” said the 43-year-old. She told mStar that the doctor informed her that her nose has become too sensitive when exposed to cigarette smoke, vape smoke, dust, and cold temperature. According to the mother-of-two, the condition of her sinuses has worsened to a point that they swell up which caused her to have difficulties in projecting her voice when singing.
“When it’s too cold, my sinuses swell up (so much) that it sounds like I have the flu when in reality I’m completely fine,” she clarified. The “Perempuan” songstress revealed that she’s currently on medication and has considered surgery. However, her doctor informed her that it will take about 3 weeks to properly heal after the procedure which caused her to contemplate the decision.
As of right now, Jaclyn Victor still remains in the top 5 ranking for the “Gegar Vaganza” singing competition which is now in its 5th week. If she were to undergo surgery, she’ll either have to do it after the finale later in November or withdraw from the competition. What will be her next move?
