2020 hasn’t exactly started on a good note for a number of people, including Jaclyn Victor.
Over the weekend, Jaclyn’s former beau Shawn Rivera took to his Instagram account to announce that the parents-of-2 are now officially divorced.
His lengthy statement reads:
“It is with heavy hearts and deepest regret, that we are now officially divorced. It was not an easy process to arrive at this decision. We tried our best, but after living apart for more than a year, we were unable to reconcile our differences. We do not wish for our dysfunctional relationship to set an unhealthy example for the children to emulate. No child deserves to grow up with the shameful stigma of seeing their parents portrayed in a negative light. We remain committed to doing what is best for our little ones, so they can one day become the best big ones they can be. No matter what, we will always love and cherish our Jonah and Molly! Seeing them smile makes all the heartbreak worthwhile.
“The downside of being ‘public figures’ is opening ourselves to ‘public opinion.’ As human beings, it is in our nature to judge, blame, or criticise others, based on our own limited perspectives. Rumours and speculation aside, only the 2 people in the actual relationship will really know the whole truth. There is no need to air our dirty laundry or slander each other’s character. In the end, that would only hurt the children more.”

As aforementioned, both Jaclyn and Shawn have 2 children together, son Jonah, 4, and daughter Molly, 2. The 48-year-old musician-actor from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States, got acquainted with the Malaysian Idol winner when they collaborated on the track “Magical Moment”. They got married in July 2014.
As at time of writing, Jac hasn’t released any statement about the divorce yet.
