Taiwanese comedian Jacky Wu (吴宗宪) has always kept his personal life away from the spotlight. However, the talk show host recently revealed a shocking detail about his marital status.
Over the weekend, Jacky performed at Arena of Stars in Resorts World Genting for his “Jacky Wu Live Concert 2026”. The show featured tons of exciting performances and even special guests. However, the most shocking moment came when Jacky admitted that he and his wife, Chang Wei Wei (张葳葳), have been divorced for over a decade.
According to the media personality, he and his wife officially called it quits 12 years ago. Jacky and Chang Wei Wei married in a simple ceremony in 1990. Their secret marriage sparked widespread media attention at the time. The television icon had to apologise for concealing his marital status, adding that he did so to protect his children’s privacy.
Opening up about his divorce, Jacky said that his eldest daughter, Sandy Wu (吳姍儒), had encouraged him to end his marriage. The 36-year-old television host also reportedly assisted her parents with the divorce process. Following their split, Jacky decided to leave all his assets to Chang Wei Wei.
Reflecting on his split, Jacky spoke earnestly to the crowd, saying, “I wasn’t a good husband, but I’m definitely a good father.” The media personality and his ex-wife had four children together, including three daughters and one son. Besides Sandy, Jacky’s son Ricky (吴睿轩) is also a public figure. He’s currently active as a singer under the stage name LucyPIE.
Jacky’s revelation about his marital status with Chang Wei Wei comes after years of speculation that the couple had quietly split. Back in 2024, the media icon revealed that he and his wife had lived apart for many years, citing different lifestyle habits as the reason. However, he didn’t elaborate on their relationship and claimed everything was fine between them.
Divorce is never easy, especially for celebrities whose every move is scrutinised. However, we commend Jacky and Chang Wei Wei for not causing a media circus with their separation. We wish the two all the best in their respective lives.
