It’s been a few years since Hong Kong artist Jacky Cheung (张学友) was last seen on stage. However, that was not a sign that the singer has hung up his mantle. In fact, Jacky recently announced amazing news. The singer will soon be returning to the stage for his 10th concert!
Jacky announced the good news yesterday (30th March), delighting many. The “God of Songs” will be launching his 60+ concert tour in June. Needless to say, the mere reveal of the concert already has fans excited for his upcoming performances.
Jacky lamented that despite 40 years in the industry, he’s only had ten concerts so far. Still, he’s apparently very eager to get back into the showbiz. On 9th June, Jacky will be performing for his fans once more in the Cotai Arena in Macau. Despite only having revealed the first leg of his tour, many netizens are already clamouring for Jacky to visit their neck of the woods, including Malaysians, of course!
Luckily enough, Jacky has confirmed that there will be a show, both in Singapore and Malaysia. However, the singer did mention that he isn’t planning to beat his previous record of 233 shows for his “Classic Tour”. After all, breaking the record was never his goal. “How to sing better and perform wonderfully is my goal for (my) concerts,” Jacky added.
Surprisingly enough, the singer added he had been nervous about unveiling his next concert. Jacky claimed he felt pressured by the expectations laid on him. “(You’re) not very secure in this line of work,” Jacky shared. “Having a sense of urgency (will help you) do things better.” Jacky added that he had actually wanted to do a musical. However, a concert was the only thing he could produce on such short notice.
Many were wondering if the singer would eventually pass on his title as the “God of Songs” as he’s getting on in age. But, the singer firmly denied the title, adding that he wasn’t afraid of aging. “I really want to know what will happen when I get old, and I don’t want to stop doing things I like because I’m getting old.” he said.
Well, we’re certainly looking forward to seeing the legend perform his best for his upcoming concert! However, in the meantime, we shall simply have to wait for Jacky to reveal more tour dates.
