Tom Hiddleston…sings?

Well, if you’re one of his longtime fans, you would know that the British actor has already shown off his singing chops more than once in the past.

At Disney‘s D23 Expo in 2013, he surprised fans when he sang “The Bare Necessities” from the Disney animated classic, “The Jungle Book“. He also lent his voice and sang for his role as the young Captain Hook in Disney’s “The Pirate Fairy“.

As if those weren’t enough to win us over, Hiddleston once again shown off his singing skills through his role in an upcoming Hank Williams biopic, “I Saw The Light“.

Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams

Hank Williams shot to fame with his melodic country hits like “Your Cheatin’ Heart” and “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”. He was one of the America’s first country musicians. Though he died of a heart attack at the preposterously young age of 29 in 1953, his songs are still very much alive until today and his grandsons are also some of the most popular country musicians in America.

“I Saw The Light” will chronicle Williams’ meteoric rise to fame and its ultimately tragic effect on his health and personal life. As Williams’ musical journey and his personal life will be documented into the film, it’s inevitable for Hiddleston to sing as he’s playing Williams in it.

He has recently taken to his official Twitter account to share the first clip from the film:

It gives me great pleasure to introduce the first clip from I SAW THE LIGHT. @TIFF_NET tomorrow! #MoveItOnOverhttps://t.co/0xC30AghNF

Hiddleston can be seen singing Wiliams’ classic track “Move It On Over” in a studio. The song was released in June 1947 and as you can see in the clip, Williams recorded it in Nashville in April 1947.

As Williams’ singing voice is distinctively unique, we couldn’t really compare the original recording to Hiddleston’s voice in the clip. However, we would say that Hiddleston actually does a pretty good job here. Williams’ loyal fans should be pleased to hear this.

Written and directed by Marc Abraham, “I Saw The Light” is based on “Hank Williams: The Biography”, an award-winning biography written by Colin Escott, George Merritt, and William (Bill) MacEwen.

The film also boasts an impressive cast, including Elizabeth Olsen, Cherry Jones, Bradley Whitford, David Krumholtz, Maddie Hasson, and Wren Schmidt.

“I Saw The Light” is slated for release on 27th November 2015.
