IQOS’ New ILUMA Tobacco Heating System Is Now In Malaysia!

The next level of heated tobacco is here in Malaysia. As one of the leading tobacco-heating system companies, IQOS is spearheading the charge for a smoke-free future, and they have taken another step closer to their goal with the launch of their newest line of products.

The unveiling took place on 2nd November at JioSpace, Petaling Jaya, where we were taken on a tour of the history of IQOS and their mission for a healthier way of enjoying heated tobacco. We were walked through the previous iterations of their tobacco-heating systems lineup, all the way to today, as they launched the star of the show: the IQOS ILUMA.

As the next generation of alternatives to the cigarette, the IQOS ILUMA features incredible updates compared to its predecessor. For those not aware, the previous iteration of this tobacco-heating device had a blade that would cut one end of the tobacco stick and then heat it.

However, that model had several issues, such as the off chance that the blade would break; and that cutting tobacco sticks resulted in dirt and gunk accumulating in the device, necessitating the user disassembling the device to clean it.

This is the problem that the IQOS ILUMA solves, with a redesign of the entire device and removing the need for a blade. Instead, this device uses a new induction-heating technology called the SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ that heats the tobacco without needing to expose one of its ends. To go along with this is the new TEREA SMARTCORE STICK™, an innovative redesign of the tobacco stick that features a heating element coated in stainless steel that heats the tobacco from within.

To demonstrate how it differs from traditional smoking, the IQOS ILUMA was pitted against a traditional cigarette. After only a few seconds, there was a clear difference between the clarity of the smoke and the amount of gunk accumulated at the filter.

If you’re interested in experiencing this new, clean way of enjoying heated tobacco, the IQOS has you covered with three different variations of the ILUMA. There is the Standard IQOS ILUMA, perfect for those looking for a familiar design; the IQOS ILUMA ONE, a more compact and pocketable experience; and their flagship, the IQOS ILUMA PRIME, which has unparalleled elegance and customizability.

The IQOS ILUMA, ILUMA ONE, and ILUMA PRIME are priced at RM329, RM179, and RM569 respectively, and are now available at their official Shopee and Lazada stores. Alternatively, you can also pick them up from IQOS-authorized centres across the country.
