Whenever you go out to crowded places, it’s important to take care of your personal belongings. The last thing anyone would want is to have their precious items stolen or left behind somewhere. Fortunately, smart devices nowadays come with a tracking feature.

Previously, a good samaritan managed to retrieve a missing iPhone that fell into a gorge at Resorts World Genting with the help of the phone’s Find My app that showed its last known location. While that story had a happy ending, this one did not end well for this person.

BLACKPINK was in our area but unfortunately, this iPhone wasn’t. A Twitter user who goes by @user94osh shared their experience of losing their iPhone when they attended the K-pop group’s “BORN PINK” concert in Kuala Lumpur last weekend. According to the tweet posted yesterday (Tuesday, 7th March), the netizen lost their iPhone before the concert even started.

The BLINK (BLACKPINK fan) assumed someone had stolen the phone and tried to use the Find My app in hopes that it would locate the missing item. To their disbelief, the smartphone has somehow made its way to Hang Nadim International Airport, in Indonesia. “Be careful guys especially when [you’re in] crowded areas, I don’t know what to do now 😭,” they tweeted.

The tweet then went viral, now reaching over 668.3k views, 2.2k retweets, and 155 quote tweets at the time of writing. Netizens responded to the tweet with most of them sympathising with the theft victim. Indonesian netizens even condemned the (presumably Indonesian) thief for giving their people a bad name. Some suggested to the BLINK to mark the iPhone as ‘Lost’ to render it useless.

Apart from having their iPhone stolen, @user94osh also recalled that they were being followed by a stranger after the concert. At the time of writing, there has been no update on whether or not the netizen has filed a police report against the stalker.

As for the iPhone, since it’s now in another country, there’s unfortunately not much that can be done other than simply deactivating the device. Let this be a reminder to be aware of your surroundings and keep yourself and your belongings safe.
