MILO® joined hands with the Ministry of Youth & Sports to celebrate Malaysia’s 69th Independence Day, uniting the nation through the enduring values of determination, resilience, and sporting excellence that define both Merdeka and the spirit of the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). More than a celebration, this partnership reflected a shared aspiration to inspire generations of Malaysians to dream bigger, strive further and achieve their fullest potential.

For generations, MILO® has been a significant partner to Malaysia’s sporting journey, championing active lifestyles and empowering young Malaysians to discover the champion within. Together with long-standing partners including the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Ministry of Youth & Sports and the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), MILO® continues to help build a stronger and more active generation through impactful grassroots initiatives such as the MILO® Champions Clinic and the Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM).

As Malaysians came together to celebrate National Day and Malaysia Day, MILO® served more than 100,000 complimentary cups across the festivities, energising communities from all walks of life and reaffirming the belief that when Malaysians come together with passion, perseverance and unity, extraordinary things are possible. It is a celebration of the true spirit of ‘Malaysia Boleh’ and a reminder that every champion’s journey begins with the courage to take the first step.

Frontliners relive the nostalgic moment to celebrate Merdeka Day with a refreshing cup of MILO®, bringing back cherished memories during Merdeka celebrations.

At the National Day Parade in Putrajaya on 31st August, MILO®, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, unveiled a specially curated float featuring Malaysia’s sporting heroes and Commonwealth Games medalists who will be representing Malaysia at the SEA Games 2027. Designed to celebrate Malaysia’s sporting spirit, the float features the striking elements of the SEA Games, adorned with the Jalur Gemilang, iconic national landmarks, tiger-stripe motifs symbolising the Harimau Malaya spirit and a replica of the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, reflecting Malaysia’s readiness to host the 34th SEA Games. The iconic MILO® vans followed behind the float, reinforcing MILO®’s long-standing commitment to nurturing sports in Malaysia.

Through the float, MILO® aims to bring the stories of Malaysia’s sporting heroes closer to the public, inspiring Malaysians to celebrate their achievements while recognising the shared values of perseverance, teamwork and unity that sport can foster.

“Merdeka is a meaningful day which brings Malaysians together. Through our collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we hope to demonstrate how sports can connect Malaysians across generations, cultures and backgrounds. For decades, MILO® has championed sports development in Malaysia encouraging a more active and united nation. We hope this Merdeka celebration inspires all Malaysians to support our athletes in the upcoming 2027 SEA Games in our home country,” said Ng Su Yen, Business Executive Officer, MILO®.

Among the 6 athletes who joined the Ministry of Youth and Sport float are national weightlifter Mohamad Aniq Kasdan and Muhammad Hafizuddin Roslin, national lawn bowler Aleena Ahmad Nawawi, national para long jumper Eljoe Gotuoh and national wheelchair basketball athlete Freday Tan Yei Bing. Each one of them carried stories that extend beyond medals and records. Together, they demonstrated that sporting excellence takes many forms and that every journey has the potential to inspire others to take their first step.

At the National Day Parade – MILO®, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, unveiled a specially-curated float featuring Malaysia’s sporting heroes and Commonwealth Games medalists.

“Celebrating Merdeka and taking part in the National Day Parade is a truly special experience. I’m grateful to MILO® for the opportunity to be part of the Ministry of Youth and Sport float and spotlight our national athletes representing Malaysia at the SEA Games 2027. We hope this would create greater awareness amongst Malaysians to come together and rally their support for Team Malaysia. Knowing the nation is behind us will inspire us to push our limits and give our best for Malaysia,” said Mohamad Aniq Kasdan, national weightlifter.

“It is truly an honour and a deeply special moment to celebrate National Day with all Malaysians. Today reminds us that the strength of Malaysia lies in our unity through sports – when we stand together and share a common dream, there is no limit to what we can achieve as a nation. For me, there is no greater source of inspiration than hearing the roaring cheers of our fellow Malaysians. Malaysia Boleh!” said Aleena Ahmad Nawawi, national lawn bowler.

As Malaysia prepares to host the SEA Games in 2027, the collaboration reflects the importance of inspiring the next generation of athletes while uniting Malaysians behind a shared national aspiration.
