Since Malaysia has been reported to be one of the fattest countries in Asia, Malaysia’s ice cream parlour Inside Scoop has decided to help Malaysians control their sugar intake by launching its ‘kurang manis’ sister brand, aptly called Sweet Escape.

“Over the years, some of our fans have cut down their sugar intake. It could be due to medical reasons, diet changes or just a simple preference of enjoying things ‘kurang manis’,” Inside Scoop said in a statement.

“The turning point was when a diabetic kid came to his cousin’s ice cream party at Inside Scoop. We can’t imagine a childhood without ice cream hence we feel that we need to do something about it.”

Similar to Inside Scoop, Sweet Escape features a different range of ice cream which caters to people with different needs, such as the sugar-free option, the alternative sugar ice cream, and vegan-friendly sorbets.

Sweet Escape’s ice cream flavours are more or less similar to Inside Scoop, only that their sugar level are 20 to 30 percent lesser. Some of the flavours that are exclusively available at Sweet Escape include Avocado, Genmai, Chrysanthemum and Kefir.
