Normally, when you hear news of your favourite celebrity or influencer getting married, you might send them a congratulatory message or leave a comment under their engagement announcement. But what if, after doing all that, it turned out those public figures were not actually tying the knot?
Rumours about celebrity relationships are very common on social media, and you will often hear celebrities address them if the rumours are untrue. This was how influencer Azfar Heri responded to rumours that he was recently engaged to someone:
Earlier this morning (Monday, 28th April), content creator Azfar Heri tweeted a photo of himself waking up to the news that he was engaged, with a caption that reads, “It’s not me who is engaged, stop congratulating me. I’m still single 😖😭”. The context of the post was apparently a tweet by a woman who goes by @/adurabatrisya or Adura on Twitter posted about her engagement the day before, and her fiancé bears the same name as the influencer.
Not only that, but the woman’s engagement outfit was more or less the same colour as the internet personality’s attire during his recent Hari Raya open house. This led to the confusion (or rather the joke) that Azfar was the woman’s fiancé, due to the timing of the post and the similar outfits worn by the two. Shortly after the public figure clarified his relationship status, fans were amused by his response and his choice of photo, which showed him looking tired after just waking up, suggesting he was weary from receiving so many messages.
Some could not help but laugh at the hilarious mix-up, while others admitted they had genuinely believed Azfar was getting married. A few continued to send congratulatory messages as a joke, even suggesting that his recent Open House was also a secret engagement ceremony. As for Adura, she did not seem offended by the viral joke, clarifying that Azfar Heri is not her fiancé. The influencer himself even apologised to her and congratulated the bride-to-be on her engagement.
