Celebrity weddings are often a hot topic, especially for long-time fans who dream of marrying their favourite stars. Though it may be bittersweet for some fans, celebrities have every right to seek their own happiness, even if it breaks a few hearts along the way.
This week, a new celebrity couple shocked fans from two neighbouring countries, Malaysia and Indonesia, which often find themselves in friendly rivalry. Indonesian actress Pevita Cleo Eileen Pearce, widely known for her role in “Sri Asih,” tied the knot with Mirzan Meer, the son of the Chairman of Habib Group, on 20th October 2024. The news left many fans, particularly in Indonesia, heartbroken.
The intimate wedding was attended by family members and close friends. Pevita shared moments from her special day on Instagram, captioning one post with, “Today, in the quiet of love, surrounded by those who mean the most, we became one.” In the photos, the couple stood side by side, both dressed in matching white attire. Prior to the wedding, Pevita also posted a light-hearted video of her friends pranking her at her own bridal shower.
Pevita’s 32-year-old groom is Mirzan Meer, is the son of HABIB Group Executive Chairman, Dato’ Sri Meer Habib. Mirzan is also recognised for his role as the Executive Director of Time Zone, a Malaysian watch distributor under HABIB Group. He is the eldest of three siblings and is also the founder of Edunia Creative, a creative agency that has thrived for five years.
The comment section of Pevita’s posts was flooded with mixed emotions. While some fans expressed disbelief, assuming the wedding was part of a new movie, others lamented how heartbroken they were to see their celebrity crush getting married. Some even quoted emotional lines from the romantic drama “The Sinking of van der Wijck,” referencing Pevita’s role as the heroine. However, many fans also took the opportunity to congratulate the couple, wishing them happiness in their new journey together.
Though the news of the wedding broke some fans’ hearts, it also brought happiness to many others, who were genuinely excited to see Pevita embark on this new journey.
