Who needs a girl squad, when you have an entire army? Just ask Ellie Goulding.
The British pop starlet is back with “Army”, her latest music video taken from her 3rd studio album, “Delirium”. Coincidently, the song is also the official single for BBC’s “Children In Need”.
Directed by Conor McDonnel, the black and white music video starts with a handwritten message by Goulding dedicating the clip to “my best friend Hannah and all my incredible fans”.
The “Army” music video is made up of concert footage from performances at music festivals as well as an all access look into behind the scenes of her day-to-day interactions with her friends and bestie, Hannah.
There are plenty of hugs, laughs, and dance parties inside the world of a jovial Goulding as she hangs out with her inner circle. The black and white music highlights the real happiness Goulding feels when she’s surrounded by her “army”.
“I realised that I had focused a lot of writing on past relationships and it hit me I had never written about my best friend,” the 29-year-old singer wrote about the song. “Two girls from Hereford trying our best in the City. We’ve been deliriously happy together, deliriously tired and deliriously sad together. I wanted to show our friendship for what it really is — honest, real, electric.”
Goulding’s “Army” is a tribute to a different support system: friendship. It’s one that we may not see every day but is just as significant as any romantic relationships.
