Beyoncé ain’t sorry for nothing.
Queen Bey has finally dropped her standalone music video for possibly the most controversial song taken from from her “Lemonade” album, “Sorry”.
Written and produced by Wynter Gordon, Sean “Melo-X” Rhoden, and Beyoncé, “Sorry” is an upbeat contemporary electro-pop track about how a woman deals with her cheating lover/husband.
Many fans, media outlets, and netizens argued that the song is directed at the singer’s husband, Jay-Z. Lines such as “Looking at my watch, he shoulda been home” and “Tonight I regret the night I put that ring on” suggest that she regrets the decision of marrying her husband while “Becky with the good hair” refers to his alleged mistress.
Shot in black-and-white, the music video starts off with the word “Apathy”, which means lack of interets, written in the middle of the screen. Then, Queen Bey starts reading words from Somali-English poet Warsan Shire’s poem about adultery.
The poem is as follows:
“So what are you going to do now that you’ve killed me? Here lies the body of the love of my life, whose heart I broke, without a gun to my head. Here lies the mother of my children, both living and dead.
Rest in peace, my true love, who I took for granted, most bomb pussy, who, because of me, sleep evaded.
Her shroud is loneliness, her god was listening. Her heaven would be a love without betrayal.
Ashes to ashes, dust to side chicks.”
The 3-minute long music video, which is directed by Dikayl Rimmasch, also features renowned tennis player Serena Williams twerking, Beyoncé dancing in front of a bus, and dancers dressed in tribal clothing, donning face and body paint.
In regards to Serena Williams’ cameo appearance, the “Formation” singer said that she wanted to include her in the video because Williams is the “personification of strength”.

Beyoncé is currently on her “The Formation World Tour” and her 6th studio platinum album,”Lemonade”, has sold over 1.6 million copies worldwide since its release on 23rd April.
