The trailer for “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie” has arrived!
Helmed by “Turbo” director David Soren, DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming animated film is a comedy based on Dav Pikey’s children’s novel series of the same name. The film also boasts an all-star cast of comedy stars including Kevin Hart, Ed Helms, Thomas Middleditch, Nick Kroll, Jordan Peele, and Kristen Schaal.
“Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie” follows 2 overly imaginative elementary schoolboys named George (voiced by Kevin Hart) and Harold (voiced by Thomas Middleditch), who hypnotise their principal into thinking he’s a ridiculously enthusiastic, incredibly dimwitted superhero named Captain Underpants (voiced by Ed Helms).
Together, the trio set out to a dangerous journey in stopping a mad scientist named Professor Pippy Poopypants (voiced by Nick Kroll).
The trailer begins with “The Office” star and Hart arguing whether Captain Underpants is a real superhero.
“He (Captain Underpants) doesn’t have X-ray vision, he can’t even climb a tree. Wearing a cape does not make him a superhero,” says Hart, to which Helms protests, “Yes it does!”
At one point of the clip, Captain Underpants can be seen attacking an inflated purple gorilla. He even tries to set a mime free from his “invisible box-like prison”.
