Malaysia may be famous for having a wide variety of food, but be honest. How often does this lead to a 15-30 minutes discussion about what to eat? It’s especially worse in a mall where there are so many choices for food that you get overwhelmed. Take Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, for example…

It’s a shopping hub for tourists and locals, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur has plenty of eateries for their visitors. It offers a large variety of delicious halal and non-halal options. However, selecting one from their long list of restaurants can be a daunting task. Well, we’re here to make it easier for you with our curated food guide!

Halal Noms

1. Michelangelo’s

If you feel like having Italian, then Michelangelo’s is the place to go! We recommend having their mouth-watering Tortelli Salmonati, which is homemade tortelli with salmon in cream saffron sauce. If you’re still hungry, try some flavourful Risotto Pollo Funghi (Carnaroli rice with chicken, mushrooms and parmesan cheese). Finish off your meal with a sweet Cannoli treat while sipping on some Kombucha, of which there’s a variety to choose from.

2. OCEAN TWE12VE

Seafood lovers, this is the restaurant for you. Just next door to Michelangelo’s, this eatery boasts fresh and tasty treasures from the sea! A must try is their Salt-Baked Tiger Grouper (which is perfectly salted, don’t worry) and their Sicilin Stuffed Squids, a crunchy and chewy delicacy. As for their beverages, do try their various mocktail concoctions which blend and pair different fruits for a refreshing drink.

3. ParaThai

In the mood for Thai? Well, get your taste buds ready because this restaurant is sure to spice up your day! Their Tom Yum is to die for as it hits all the right notes on your tongue while ensuring an experience you won’t forget. If you like a mix of spicy sweet, go for their Papaya Salad. It’s tasty, crunchy and nutritious – perfect for anyone who wants to watch their health!

And if you really like their Tom Yum, try their signature drink: Tom Yum Coke. Trust us, it’s a drink you absolutely need to taste for yourself.

4. Food Republic’s Dubai

If you miss the taste of Middle Eastern food, specifically, food from Dubai, no worries! We can get some, right here in Pavilion KL. Located in Food Republic itself is a small bit of Dubai. It offers classics like shawarma with garlic sauce, Biryani rice with a generous helping of chicken and their local dessert, Kunafa. This treat is perfect for people who aren’t too fond of sweet things as it has a delicate and subtle taste.

5. Yayoi

Japanese food lovers must surely pay a visit to Yayoi for some traditional fare. Yayoi specialises in teishoku, which is a set meal consisting of rice, miso, a main and a side. However, there are also plenty of a la carte menus and desserts for customers to explore, including their sushi and piping hot karaage.

6. Serai

Even with all the exotic food offered, sometimes, you just want a taste of home. Well, you definitely can’t go wrong with Serai! From your comfort food of nasi kerabu to good old nasi lemak pandan, Serai ensures you taste Malaysia vibrantly on your tongue. Of course, there’s plenty of other delicacies on the menu for customers to enjoy.

7. Two Sons Bistro

Some people like Western cuisine, others still prefer Asian. Well, why argue when you can have both? Two Sons Bistro has food for both Western and Asian cuisine lovers so families can enjoy their meal without any strife. However, we do recommend going for their specialty, that is their clams and mussels dishes.

Non-Halal Noms

1. Santouka Ramen

If you’ve got a craving for Japanese noodles, we recommend dropping by Santouka for some delicious ramen! This Japanese restaurant is dedicated to bringing the art of ramen to Malaysia and it certainly doesn’t scrimp on its flavours. Choose from a variety of shio (salt), shouyou (soy sauce) and miso ramen to fill your craving!

2. Shu Guo Yin Xiang Hotpot

Planning dinner with a huge group of friends? Well, there’s nothing better than hotpot for that! Simply select your favourite ingredients, soup and settle in for a good meal. We recommend getting their fried mantau with condensed milk to balance out against the spicy and savoury fare.

3. Samy & Min Bak Kut Teh

If you need something herbal and soupy to warm you up, Bak Kuh Teh is definitely the best meal to have. So, drop by Samy and Min Bak Kut Teh for a bowl of quality broth with tender meat and well-cooked rice. Be it appetizers, picking a certain cut of meat, or simply enjoying a simple meal of bak kuh teh, Samy and Min have got you covered!

Desserts, Beverages & Snacks

1. Tealive Plus

The name Tealive can speak for itself, but Tealive Plus is their first premium concept store. If you’re looking for their limited edition drinks, such as their Cheese Brûlée Milk Tea, then this is the place to get it! Drinks aside, they also have plenty of snacks, like their tasty Toastea to go with your saccharine drink.

2. Chagee

If bubble tea isn’t your cup of tea, head over to Chagee for some classic Chinese tea with a twist. Explore and enjoy a variety of tea blends mixed with modern ingredients. With a curated menu of different beverages, there’s bound to be a drink you’ll enjoy!

3. Cold Stone Creamery

Looking for a cold sweet treat? Look no further than Cold Stone Creamery! There are plenty of flavours to choose from and additional ingredients to sweeten the deal. Most of all, feel free to customise your own scoop (or scoops) of ice cream with tasty add-ons till it fits the ice cream of your dreams.

We’ll be honest, this guide barely scratches the surface as there are plenty more eateries to check out like Baan Phadthai and Five Guys. However, you have the chance to explore all these culinary delights in the month of July as there will be plenty of deals and promotions happening till 24th July.

So what are you waiting for? Whet up your appetite and get ready to embark on your own foodie adventure!
