We’re halfway through 2024 and still have a lot of public holidays to look forward to! However, some of us may not have the privilege to plan our holidays ahead for this head but do not fret, as the official calendar for next year’s public holidays in Malaysia was recently released!
According to the 2025 calendar, we are expected to have 12 nationwide holidays and 6 long weekends (without leaves)! So without any further ado, here is the list of public holidays to help you apply for your annual leaves to the fullest:

Public Holidays in 2025:
- 1st January (Wednesday): New Years
- 29th January (Wednesday): Lunar New Year
- 30th January (Thursday): Lunar New Year Day 2 (except Kelantan and Terengganu)
- 31st March (Monday): Hari Raya Aidilfitri
- 1st April (Tuesday): Hari Raya Aidilfitri Day 2
- 1st May (Thursday): Labor Day
- 12th May (Monday): Wesak Day
- 7th June (Saturday): Hari Raya Haji
- 27th June (Friday): Awal Muharram
- 31st August (Sunday): Merdeka Day
- 5th September (Friday): Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday
- 16th September (Tuesday): Malaysia Day
- 20th October (Monday): Deepavali (except Sarawak)
- 25th December (Thursday): Christmas
These are the 6 long weekends (without vacation leave):
- 29th March (Saturday) – 1st April (Monday): Hari Raya Aidilfitri
- 10th (Saturday) – 12th May (Monday): Wesak Day
- 27th (Friday) – 29th June (Sunday): Awal Muharram
- 30th (Saturday) – 1st September (Monday): Merdeka Day
- 5th (Friday) – 7th September (Sunday): Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday
- 18th (Saturday) – 20th October (Monday): Deepavali

- Hari Raya Aidilfitri: 2 Day Leave on 28th March – 2nd April (Friday & Tuesday) = 5 Days Break; 28th March – 2nd April (Friday – Tuesday)
- Labour Day: 2 Days Leave on 31st April – 2nd May (Wednesday & Friday) = 5 Days Break; 31st April – 4th May (Wednesday – Sunday)
- Wesak Day: 2 Days Leave on 6th June – 13th May (Friday & Tuesday) = 5 Days Break; 9th – 13th May (Friday – Tuesday)
- Hari Raya Haji: 1 Day Leave On 6th June (Friday) = 3 Days Break; 6th – 8th June (Friday – Sunday)
- Awal Muharram: 1 Day Leave On 26th June (Thursday) = 4 Days Break; 26th – 29th June (Thursday – Sunday)
- Merdeka: 1 Day Leave On 29th August (Friday) = 4 Days Break; 29th – 1st September (Friday – Monday)
- Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday: 1 Day Leave On 4th September (Thursday) = 4 Days Break; 4th – 7th September (Thursday – Sunday)
- Deepavali: 2 Days Leave On 17th – 21st October (Friday & Tuesday) = 5 Days Break; 17th – 21st October (Friday– Tuesday)
- Christmas Day: 2 Days Leave on 24th – 26th December (Wednesday & Friday) = 5 Days Break; 24th – 28th May (Wednesday – Sunday)
