How far would you go for love? In most cases, most couples would eagerly agree that no matter what comes their way, their love will withstand the test of time. Can the same be said when a prison sentence looms over the relationship?
Former Hong Kong actor Lee Lung Kei (李龙基) was overjoyed over the release of his fiancée, Chris Wong (王青霞), following a 25-month prison sentence for falsifying university certificates to obtain an entry permit and overstaying in Hong Kong. Lung Kei arrived at the Shenzhen Immigration point on Monday (7th July 2025) with a big bouquet of 60 pink roses for Chris, as he waited patiently for her arrival.

Reportedly, the 74-year-old actor had waited for Chris for an hour with the roses, and upon her arrival had exclaimed, “Wife!” before rushing to embrace her. As reporters flooded the couple, the 37-year-old stayed silent and hid behind her Lung Kei, as he excitedly comments, “I’m very happy. I’ve been waiting for a long time. I’ll see what she would like to eat and take her out for a meal. I’ll make sure she looks beautiful“.
Previously, the couple had engaged while Chris was in prison, where they exchanged 300 letters across a 25-month period. The former actor shares his hopes of marrying Chris in a previous interview, where they would live a simple life together after her release. Lung Kei had also transferred all of his property to her and had reportedly purchased a gold bracelet for Chris in preparation for their wedding.

Despite the 37-year age gap and time in prison, Lee Lung Kei continues to prove that love conquers all.
