To quote MTV, there are the usual birthday parties, and then there are Taylor Swift parties.
In celebration of Lorde’s 20th birthday earlier this week, Swift threw the New Zealand-born singer a star-studded birthday party in a trendy New York restaurant. The joyous occasion was attended by some of her closest pals, including her famous celebrity friends Karlie Kloss, Aziz Ansari, Lena Dunham, and Rachel Antonoff.
One snapshot shows Tay Tay planting a kiss on Lorde’s left cheek as she pulls a stern look for the camera, which later turns into a laugh as the birthday girl can be seen happily smiling while holding onto the red balloon.
“Had the best birthday party I’ve ever had tonight surrounded by my NYC family. All organised by Tay, who is as she says ‘a mom with no kids.’ I am your kid and you love me so hard, I could burst. Here’s to our 3 magic years of best friendship and more moments like this squished between angels,” wrote Lorde
She accompanied the tribute post with a picture of her sipping a drink while being kissed on the cheek again, this time by Swift and Victoria’s Secret model Karlie Kloss. Lorde – whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor – wore a black strapless dress for her birthday bash.
Ahead of the party, Lorde received a sweet birthday wish from the “Blank Space” singer, who posted a picture of a hand-drawn watercolour birthday card, recalling their 1st meeting years ago. “Thank you for the music you make, the advice you give, the thoughts you provoke, and the way you’ve made my life more beautiful since the first day we met up in New York and ate burgers on a park bench and got attacked by squirrels. I. Love. You. So. Much. Ella.@lordemusic,” said Swift.
