The Hong Kong entertainment scene is in mourning after veteran actor Benz Hui (許紹雄) passed away earlier today (28th October 2025, Tuesday). He was 76.
His death came after reports from 27th October 2025 (Monday) that he was hospitalised in critical condition. His illness wasn’t disclosed previously, but his family has revealed that the actor had cancer. His family confirmed that the actor passed away from multiple cancer-related organ failure.


According to reports, Benz died peacefully at 2:30am, surrounded by family and close friends. Many of his showbiz colleagues even paid him visits at the hospital before his passing. Among those spotted at the hospital were actress Charmaine Sheh (佘诗曼), actor Raymond Lam (林峯) and veteran entertainer Alice Fung (冯素波).
Benz came from a prominent family in Guangzhou, historically regarded as one of the city’s leading clans. After enrolling in TVB’s first Artist Training Class and becoming one of its inaugural students, the star launched his acting career. Since then, he has built a prolific portfolio across television and film.

The star was also a well-known family man, highly regarded for his devotion to his wife, daughter and stepson. Benz notably spent millions of dollars to help his daughter build her cafe business in Singapore. He had also built a close bond with a few of his co-stars, namely Charmaine Sheh, who sees the late actor as a father figure.
