Affected By Monorail Station Closures? Alternate Routes To Your Offices & Favourite Malls

If you use the KL Monorail for your daily commute or to visit your favourite local malls, you’ll want to take note of this. Unfortunately, RapidKL has temporarily closed four monorail stations – Bukit Nanas, Raja Chulan, Bukit Bintang and Imbi. However, you’re still good to get to work and any malls within KL and here’s how:

The closure of these stations came after the incident where an uprooted tree on Jalan Sultan Ismail smashed onto the monorail track yesterday (7th May, Tuesday) at around 2pm. According to RapidKL, the stations will have to be closed starting 8th May (Wednesday) as power shutdowns are required to facilitate cleaning and repair works. However, there is no information on when the stations will resume operations.

Along with the announcement, RapidKL has also shared information regarding alternative services that will be available to assist affected commuters throughout the station closures. This means commuters can continue their journey for work or leisure as planned. These alternative services are available starting 8th May (Wednesday), 6am until the stations are back and running.

If you’re taking the bus, ten shuttle buses will be available daily with an expected frequency of every 30 minutes or depending on traffic. The buses will travel back and forth between the Hang Tuah, Imbi, Bukit Bintang, Raja Chulan, Bukit Nanas and Medan Tuanku monorail stations. If you plan on visiting Berjaya Times Square or LaLaport BBCC, this route is the best alternative.

On the other hand, you can also head to the nearest MRT or LRT station to continue your journey. Bukit Bintang is home to malls like Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Fahrenheit88. Meanwhile, the Bukit Nanas area houses numerous hotels, including Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur and the Concorde Hotel. If you ever need to get to these places or any other buildings in these two areas, taking the train is your best option during the monorail closure. Here are the alternative train services closest to the affected monorail stations:

  • Imbi, Bukit Bintang, Raja Chulan: MRT Bukit Bintang
  • Bukit Nanas: LRT Dang Wangi

If you’re stopping at a monorail station other than the ones closed, don’t worry because the Titiwangsa-Medan Tuanku and Hang Tuah-KL Sentral stations are operating as usual but with revised frequencies. We hope this was helpful – and we wish you a safe journey wherever you’re heading!
