Datin Seri Haflin Saiful recently drew quite a bit of backlash when she posted a video of her enjoying some play time at a beach, despite wearing the pink Covid-19 wristband.

In the short clip, the wife of UMNO Leader Datuk Seri Mohd Nazri Aziz was doing a short stretch before running to the ocean to join her kids. “Best home quarantine ever,” she captioned the Instagram post.

Many assumed that she was openly flaunting her home quarantine online after testing positive for Covid-19. Screenshots of the clip were being shared on social media with people wondering why she was outdoors instead of staying at home.

Haflin later clarified that the video was recorded at her own property in Bachok, Kelantan. “It was my private beach, my territory in my compound,” she was quoted as saying. She also stated in the comments section that she has no plans to take the Covid-19 vaccine.

Some even took to the comments section to share their thoughts on Haflin’s privileged life:

  • “A lot of people just couldn’t resist telling the world what a great life they have on Social Media. Most of the time, it’s just best to STFU and enjoy what u have to yourself to prevent any unwanted negative publicity onto your own self.”
  • “I thought all beaches are for public in Malaysia, even at resorts and beach hotels?”
  • “Right or wrong, I don’t know but this reminds me of the Selangor MB swimming pool issue also. These politicians families love to flaunt in social media when rakyat is suffering in this pandemic.”
  • “That’s the difference between politician vs a normal citizen. Quarantine for politician families is like a vacation while for the normal citizen will be in those crowded centers queue long line in front of toilets.”
