Tekashi 6ix9ine (real name Daniel Hernandez) might be a familiar name for all you that are hip-hop fans. For those that aren’t, just know that 6ix9ine is an American rapper based in Brooklyn, who – along with a few fellow gang members – were arrested in November 2018.
After what seems like an eternity of court cases and testimonies, it seems that the Brooklyn native will finally receive his sentenced. The decision will see him doing 24 months in prison, with 300 community hours when he gets out and a US$35,000 (RM145,000) fine. The sentence was made yesterday (18th December 2019) and was conducted by Federal Judge Paul Engelmayer.
The Rapper was charged on six counts of racketeering and firearms charges, and could have faced a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison. It was noted that the “Gummo” artist and his associate participated in the illegal activities “for the purpose of gaining entrance to and maintaining and increasing position in (the gang)” – as court documents revealed.
However, it is noted that the 23-year-old was already providing intimate information about his gang to the authorities prior to his arrest. In the testimonies following his arrest, the “Kooda” rapper admitted that he was part of the Nine Trey Bloods gang and plead guilty to armed robbery and drug trafficking.
In September 2019, Hernandez also testified against some of his peers in the gang while also revealing that another rapper, Jim Jones, was also a member in the Nine Trey gang with female rapper, Cardi B, being a member of another gang named Blood.

Despite what’s happening with the Brooklyn rapper’s legal life, he signed a record deal with his old label, 10K Projects, that was estimated to be worth US$10million in October 2019. The deal will see the “Fefe” rapper producing two new albums, one in English and the other one in Spanish.
