Grab Malaysia introduced its new Kampus Rakan Grab (KRG) hubs, signaling a shift from a focus on providing earning opportunities to a long-term commitment to the holistic growth of its partners. Selected Grab Driver Centres, beginning with Petaling Jaya, have been refurbished and repurposed as dedicated economic empowerment hubs, a shared space where driver-, delivery-, and merchant-partners can equip themselves with the skills and digital confidence to thrive in an evolving economy.
“Our partners have always been the backbone of our journey. As the economy transforms, our role must evolve from being a platform for earning to becoming a dedicated partner for their long-term growth,” said Adelene Foo, Managing Director of Grab Malaysia. “Kampus Rakan Grab is our way of listening and responding to our partners’ aspirations. We are humbled to play a part in their growth, and we envision this hub as a space for upskilling, networking, and building the resilience needed to succeed both within and beyond the Grab ecosystem.”

The launch was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, Minister of Human Resources, who noted: “The launch of Kampus Rakan Grab affirms a meaningful commitment to Malaysia’s gig economy. By moving beyond immediate earnings to focus on long-term social protection and upskilling, Grab is aligning with the Ministry’s goal of ensuring a future-ready workforce. I am also pleased to highlight that, continuing a commitment started in 2020, Grab Malaysia will be increasing its investment to subsidise PERKESO contribution for its active driver- and delivery-partners under Skim Keselamatan Sosial Pekerjaan Sendiri (Lindung Kendiri), ensuring the immediate safety of its partners. Furthermore, Grab Malaysia will collaborate with the Ministry to make upskilling programs accessible through the Perbadanan Tabung Pembangunan Kemahiran (PTPK), empowering its partners with skills needed for long-term success.”
KRG’s new role as an economic empowerment hub reaffirms Grab’s over a decade-long commitment to partner well-being and is built upon three focus areas:
1. Empowering through continuous learning: KRG continues to serve as the physical home of GrabAcademy, which has benefited over 40,000 partners to date through upskilling programmes. Programmes are shaped around practical needs, including:
- Digital and financial skills to help partners stay relevant.
- Exposure to new tools and technologies, including AI.
- Skills pathways developed with partners such as CARSOME Academy, GIATMARA and Saito UniversityCollege, offering certifications that are useful beyond the platform.
2. Inclusive and supportive community: KRG is designed to be safe and inclusive:
- Accessible by design: The hub is PWD-friendly, featuring dedicated assistance booths where deaf partners can communicate directly with staff, ensuring equal access for all.
- Family-friendly: Understanding the realities of working parents, KRG includes a dedicated play area, allowing parents to manage their needs without compromising on family care.
- Community driven: The hub will host regular networking events and festive celebrations to foster a sense of mutual support and shared community among partners.
3. Simplifying the path to economic growth: To reduce friction, KRG aims to bring essential services under one roof:
- One-Stop Support: A single touchpoint to resolve complex issues and manage onboarding for both driver- and delivery-partners as well as merchant-partners.
- Direct Ecosystem Access: Hands-on discovery and access to Grab’s wider ecosystem, including digital banking via GXBank, financial solutions through GFin, and essential goods from Jaya Grocer.
- On-Site Expert Consultations: Third-party vendors, such as insurance providers, will be hosted on-site to provide face-to-face consultations, making financial planning more accessible.

The Kampus Rakan Grab initiative represents an evolution of the GrabBenefits program, which saw a RM10 million increase in investment in 2025. It also complements the RM5 million investment made in conjunction with the launch of the government’s Sejahtera MADANI fund last year, part of Grab’s commitment to facilitate economic empowerment of partners through upskilling to create new earning opportunities and enhance career development potential.
By focusing on the five pillars of protection, savings, academy, financial solutions, and community, Grab Malaysia continues to drive inclusive growth for every Malaysian who earns through the digital economy, in turn aligning with national efforts towards sustainable socio-economic upliftment and poverty eradication.
