Who’s ready for a whirlwind experience? “Twisters” will be sweeping through cinemas this July with even more terrifying tornadoes. Leading the cast are Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell who play eager scientist Kate Carter and hot-shot storm chaser Tyler Owens respectively.
Kate is a researcher who, after a harrowing experience with a tornado, sees herself returning to the open plains in an attempt to recreate the Dorothy experiments (weather alert system) seen in the classic 1996 disaster film.
Although many view “Twisters” as a sequel to 1996’s “Twister”, Glen Powell insisted that this version is “completely original” and “standalone story”. In speaking to Vogue, the hunky star said, “It’s definitely not a reboot. We’re not trying to recreate the story from the first one. It’s a completely original story. There are no characters from the original movie back, so it’s not really a continuation. It’s just its own standalone story in the modern-day. I don’t think anyone has brought up this movie in forever, but talking to people, they’re like, ‘That was one of my favorite movies growing up. That movie terrified me’.”
