The girls of (G)I-DLE (여자아이들) appeared as guests on the most recent episode of “Knowing Brothers” this past weekend. During the chat with the male cast members, they shared some interesting stories behind the scenes of their latest EP, “I Love”.
In the episode, leader Soyeon shared how she got the inspiration for the sexy concept for their title track “Nxde”. According to her, she watched the movies “Gentlemen Prefer Blonde” and “Moulin Rouge” several times to decide on the concept for their comeback.
Soyeon also explained that Marilyn Monroe inspired the concept a lot. In particular, she drew inspiration from the actress’s famous phrase, “Diamonds are girls’ best friend.” The message of (G)I-DLE’s title song was inspired mostly by the iconic actress. During the conversation, the topic of sleeping naked was brought up, as the title of the song was inspired from Monroe’s statement, where she said that she only wore Chanel No.5 to bed.
One of the show’s hosts, Lee Soo Geun stated, “You’re supposed to fall asleep better naked. I sleep naked too, so I can’t sleep with clothes on.” At that moment, Lee Sang Min also added, “I don’t sleep with pants on”. He went on to ask the girl group members on whether they also really sleep in the nude.
The members seemed rather uncomfortable with the question posed by the veteran celeb. That said, Sang Min didn’t stop there! He went on to put Shuhua on the spot by calling her out, saying, “Based on her expression, she really sleeps nude.” While none of them were able to give their response to the question, Soyeon was quick to come to the rescue. She clapped back at him by saying, “What are you thinking? We make sure to wrap ourselves up when we sleep. You sleep naked as much as you want.”
The video taken from the episode immediately garnered tons of reactions from the netizens. Many commended Soyeon for her forthright response towards Sang Min. On the other hand, there were also some who criticised Sang Min for his crossing the line with his question. Some of the comments include.
