In conjunction with World Environment Day, Garnier Malaysia announces the local launch of Collective for the Planet, the brand’s global sustainability initiative dedicated to mobilising collective action towards a more sustainable future.
Anchored in Garnier’s long-term commitment to sustainability, from greener science and responsible sourcing to reduced environmental impact across its operations and products, Collective for the Planet reflects the brand’s belief that meaningful change happens when businesses, communities and consumers come together.
Bringing this commitment to life in Malaysia, Garnier is activating two local initiatives focused on environmental restoration and waste reduction:
Garnier Eco Campus Tree Planting Initiative

Leading the programme is the launch of an Eco Campus Tree Planting Initiative at the Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) campus, where Garnier Malaysia commits to planting 1,500 trees across 8.6 acres of the UPSI Arboretum in collaboration with Malaysia Nature Society, 500 UPSI student volunteers and Garnier stakeholders.
Marked by an official launch event on 10th June 2026 (Wednesday), the initiative supports the creation of greener ecosystems while inspiring stronger environmental awareness and participation among local youth.
“Collective for the Planet is designed to transform environmental awareness into tangible, community-driven impact,” said Jaren Ong, Director, Garnier Malaysia, in his opening speech. “The full impact of this Eco Campus will unfold over the years ahead, but its story begins with our actions today – proof that collective efforts build lasting change.”

“Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI)’s has always been committed to community service and the enrichment of knowledge — values that perfectly align with Garnier’s Collective for the Planet,” said YBrs. Prof. Dr. Suriani Abu Bakar, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), UPSI. “We’re sure this shared experience has sown green values in today’s 500 participants. This living classroom will grow to not only impact the local environment but also inspire the next wave of eco-catalysts across generations.”
Comprising 1,500 native tropical forest trees especially selected for their nativity to the state and their role in supporting local biodiversity, including serving as food sources for small mammals, birds and insects, the plot will seamlessly integrate with the local environment. Upon maturity, this Eco Campus will help strengthen local habitats, enhance campus biodiversity and increase carbon sequestration, positively impacting environmental for decades to come.
