Even gang members are fans of TWICE.
During TWICE’s concert in Singapore last Sunday (17th June), gang slogans were heard when the girls were performing. A video of someone shouting the said slogan went viral, prompting police to investigate the issue.
In the video, the chant “sah lak kau” (or “369” in Hokkien) could be heard. According to The Straits Times, the slogan is synonymous with the gang Sio Kun Tong.
Police have responded and confirmed that they are investigating.
The Twitter user who uploaded the original video said that the voice in the clip belonged to his brother. He also claimed that his brother shouted the gang slogans as he did not know the words to the fan chants.
Under Singapore’s Societies Act, it is illegal to join or act as a member of an unlawful society. It is also illegal to attend a meeting of an unlawful society.
Anyone convicted of being a member of an unlawful society may face a fine not exceeding $5,000 (approximately RM14k), a jail term of up to 3 years, or both.
The massively popular girl group will also be visiting Malaysia on 28th July.
