Opening on 27th August 2026, GAMTAN MEATSHOP (감탄) (感炭) Sri Petaling brings the brand’s signature Butcher’s Cut pork omakase experience, tabletop charcoal grilling, staff guided grilling and cut specific pairings to a new part of Kuala Lumpur.
Founded by a Korean butcher and chef duo with over 15 years of experience, Gamtan approaches Korean BBQ from the perspective of the cut. Every cut is hand-trimmed in house at an artisan level, selected for its marbling, texture and grain, then grilled according to its own characteristics rather than treated as a standard BBQ order.

Sri Petaling marks Gamtan’s third Malaysian outlet in under twelve months, following the queues built at Sri Hartamas and Imbi.
Why Diners Keep Returning To Gamtan

- Korean BBQ That Is Guided, Not Figured Out – Most Korean BBQ leaves diners to choose, grill and pair their own meat. Gamtan takes a different approach. The Butcher’s Cut (붓처스컷) presents a curated sequence of premium pork, with each cut selected for its marbling, texture and grain. Staff grill each cut, recommend the doneness and introduce its intended pairing, making the experience guided from start to finish.
- Butcher Led From Selection To Table – Founded by a Korean butcher and chef duo with 15+ years of experience, Gamtan selects each cut based on its marbling, texture, grain and grilling performance. Meat is hand-trimmed and prepared in house, ensuring every cut is chosen not just for how it looks, but how it cooks and eats.
- Tabletop Charcoal Grilling, With Staff At The Grill – Charcoal grilling is central to the Gamtan experience. Staff grill each cut at the table, controlling the cooking according to its characteristics and guiding guests through the sequence, so they can focus on enjoying the meat rather than watching the grill.
- The Condiment Changes With The Cut – At Gamtan, pairings are selected according to the cut. Guests are guided through K-ssamjang sauce, salted squid, Maldon salt, wasabi, and tonkatsu sauce with crispy breadcrumbs, allowing each pairing to bring out a different flavour, richness or texture.
- Refillable Fresh Banchan, Made Daily – Every banchan is prepared in house from scratch each morning and served refillable, continuing the standard of Gamtan.
The Menu: The Butcher’s Cut

Gamtan’s defining offering is the Butcher’s Cut (붓처스컷) 300g | RM98, a pork omakase-style set guided by staff from the first cut to the last.]
Trio of premium pork cuts selected for contrast in marbling, texture and flavour. The team grills each cut at the table, pairs it with the right condiment, and presents it course by course. Each cut is charcoal grilled to its cut-specific doneness, then introduced with its recommended pairing. Nothing arrives at once. The order is the point. The Butcher’s Cut is the moment creators return to most: the tray arriving raw and read out cut by cut, then grilled and served in sequence.

Not One Sauce: A Different Way To Eat Every Cut
At Gamtan the pairing changes with the cut, and each one is a different way to eat the same meat. K-ssamjang gives the familiar savoury-sweet Korean anchor. Salted squid adds fermented depth and a fine textural bite. Maldon salt keeps the cut plain so the marbling speaks for itself. Wasabi cuts through the richness with a clean, sharp lift. Tonkatsu sauce with crispy breadcrumbs is the one nobody expects, sweet and crunchy against charcoal-grilled pork.
Beef Cuts
Beef is also available, grilled over the same charcoal. Guests can enjoy MB9 Wagyu Galbisal and Bone Galbi over the same charcoal used for the signature pork. One of the top grades on the AUS-MEAT scale (0–9+).

Signature Dishes Beyond The Grill

- Signature Korean Hotpot Rice (Sotbap 솥밥) (Steak Sotbap RM48 | Eel Sotbap RM48 | Abalone Sotbap RM46 | Pork Sotbap RM38) – Gamtan’s menu extends beyond Korean BBQ with a selection of dishes designed for sharing. Claypot style rice topped with steak, eel, abalone or pork, served sizzling with a crisp layer of rice developing at the base.
- Truffle Potato Pancake Regular RM38 | 4pcs RM18 – Crisp on the edges and soft in the centre, offering an aromatic side dish to balance the grilled meats.
- Handmade Sujebi and Noodles RM22~RM28 – Fresh dough is torn by hand to order and cooked in a nutty perilla seed broth, delivering a soft yet chewy texture rarely found on Malaysian Korean BBQ menus. A selection of cold noodles, plain or spicy noodles, Jjagaechi and ramyeon round out the charcoal grilled meal, offering a traditional Korean finish.
- Stews (Jjigae 찌개) – A selection of comforting Korean stews, including Kimchi Stew, Soybean Stew (Doenjang) and Soft Tofu Stew, each offers a distinct flavour profile.
- Gamtan Makgeolli RM38 – A house makgeolli served by the jug, designed for sharing across the table.
A 90s Seoul Meat Shop In Sri Petaling

The Sri Petaling outlet continues Gamtan’s 90s Seoul meat shop concept, bringing together aged wood, stainless steel, deep green seating, vintage Korean newsprint, old posters, dried herbs and woven baskets.
The space is designed to feel warm, lived-in and social rather than polished or formal, keeping the focus on the grill, the food and the people around the table.
With individual extraction over every grill, diners can settle in comfortably for a longer meal without the room becoming overwhelmed by smoke.
From Telok Ayer, Singapore To Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur

Gamtan has built its following across Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, with food creators regularly highlighting the experience beyond the finished plate.
Gamtan began in Telok Ayer, Singapore, founded by a Korean butcher and chef duo who built the restaurant around a simple principle: Korean BBQ should begin with understanding the meat.
Rather than treating pork as interchangeable cuts for the grill, Gamtan focuses on selection, preparation, cooking and pairing according to the characteristics of each cut.
Gamtan subsequently expanded into Kuala Lumpur with outlets in Sri Hartamas and Imbi, before bringing the concept to Sri Petaling on 27th August 2026.
Across its Malaysian outlets, the brand maintains the same focus on butchery, charcoal grilling and guided Korean BBQ, while each location carries its own interpretation of the GAMTAN MEATSHOP atmosphere.
