Given how many “scam” concerts that have emerged in the past few years, it’s no surprise that fans are sceptical of some concert announcements. Recently, reports suggest that G-Dragon (지드래곤), ITZY (있지), Hwasa (화사) and DPR Ian (DPR 이안) will all perform at the same concert in Malaysia later this month, sparking debate over its legitimacy.
Over the weekend, an Instagram account with the handle @/ksparkmy2026 announced a new joint K-pop concert happening at Stadium Merdeka on 31st January 2026 (Saturday). The concert boasts an impressive line-up, including DOLLA, 3P, ITZY, Mamamoo’s Hwasa, DPR Ian and G-Dragon. While a star-studded line-up would typically spark excitement, local K-pop fans had doubts about the concert.
Many argued that the sudden announcement seemed fishy, paired with the seemingly unknown organiser. There are also claims that the tickets are selling out fast. However, upon closer inspection at the post, K-SPARK is the official flagship concert series from ER CMG, but rebranded from K-Star SPARK in 2026. A K-Star SPARK concert with G-Dragon, Daesung, DPR Ian, I-DLE’s Minnie and GOT7’s Bambam took place in Bangkok last year.
Given the information about K-SPARK/K-Star SPARK, it seems that the concert is legitimate. Additionally, G-Dragon, ITZY, DOLLA and 3P have acknowledged the event, further proving that the concert will indeed take place later this month. For those wondering about the short ticket sale period, it’s worth noting that the previous Bangkok concert also had tickets go on sale less than a month before the show date. Here’s what we know about the show so far:
