We’ve all seen obvious signs that make us laugh. After all, there is no way someone is that silly, right? Well, according to this petrol station sign in Johor, people actually can be that silly.

A netizen recently shared this sign they had come across while at the petrol station at Pagoh Toll Plaza in Johor. The sign supposedly reminded customers to put away the petrol pump’s fuel nozzles before going to the toilet. Needless to say, it left many scratching their heads as they wondered what had happened!

The netizen, Nazri Tan, had apparently been visiting the toilet at the petrol station at the R&R in Pagoh when he noticed a printed sign hung above the urinal. “Attention!” the sign read. “Return the nozzle after use. Please finish fueling (your car) before going to the toilet.” The sign added that the cost for repairs was RM400 if the nozzle or hose got disconnected from the fuel pump.

“From the sign, I can piece the story together,” Nazri stated in his caption. “What usually happens is that someone will be refueling. While waiting for it to finish, they will go to the toilet. After they are done, they will immediately get into the car and (drive) a few meters before stopping.” The reason for the sudden halt? The forgotten hose and nozzle that is still attached to their car. He then reminded people to finish one task at a time to avoid such issues.

Netizens were quick to share their thoughts on the issue. “RM400 is too little,” one comment read. “RM4000 is more worthwhile.” Another agreed with the petrol station’s actions. “Maintenance for stuff is expensive. Customers should pay for (the hose) if it breaks,” they said.

However, others had a more concerning matter they wanted to be solved. Several shared stories of people leaving their cars at the fuel pump to do things, causing a pile-up behind them as other cars lined up for the pump. “Every fuel pump should have a reminder, such as, remove your car if you’re done fueling,” one added.

Well, we can certainly see why the petrol station had to put up such a sign. Hopefully, customers will be more mindful when they refuel in the future to avoid damaging the pump or making others wait!
