Victoria Monét & John Gaines
Earlier this week, American singer Victoria Monét took to social media to formally announce her breakup from longtime boyfriend John Gaines. The Grammy Award winner revealed that the two have separated for over ten months since late 2023. The statement comes after rumours surfaced of John having an affair, but the statement denies any infidelity. While the exact timeline of Victoria and John’s relationship is unknown, they have been together since 2020. The two are also parents to three-year-old Hazel and said in the statement that they will continue to raise their child together.
Claudia Kim & Cha Min Geun/Matthew Shampine
South Korean actress Claudia Kim (김수현) also announced her divorce this week, revealing that she’s separating from her businessman husband after five years of marriage. Claudia and former WeWork Korea CEO Cha Min Geun, also known as Matthew Shampine, tied the knot in 2019. The two have one daughter, who is turning four years old this year. According to the actress’ agency, YG Entertainment, the pair settled their divorce amicably through mutual agreement, but no details were shared on the cause of the separation.
Nikki Garcia & Artem Chigvintsev
Former WWE star Nikki Garcia also called it quits with husband Artem Chigvintsev earlier this month. The television personality filed for dissolution of her marriage with the Russian ballroom dancer on 11th September 2024. The divorce comes a few weeks after Artem got arrested following a domestic violence report. Nikki and Artem met when they were paired for the dancing competition, “Dancing with the Stars” and married in 2022. They also share a son, who was born in 2020. Nikki is currently seeking full custody of her child but requested for Artem to have supervised visitations.
Fazura & Fattah Amin
Malaysian celebrity couple Fazura and Fattah Amin shocked the local entertainment industry after it was reported the actress filed for divorce from the actor after seven years of marriage. The divorce hasn’t finalised but the two did break their silence during their first court hearing. However, there were rumours of infidelity from both sides, though everything remains a speculation. Fattah was reportedly unaware of the divorce as he only found out about the news through social media. The divorce case is now postponed to early October. The two tied the knot in November 2017 and share a daughter named Fatima.
Dottie & Mohd Haffis Abu Hassan
Local comedian Nor Syuhaida, better known as Dottie, also separated from her husband in September. The actress finalised her divorce from her now ex-husband Mohd Haffis Abu Hassan on 18th September 2024 after eight years of marriage. Dottie said the decision to separate was mutual, revealing that the pair have lived separately for the past six years. As part of the divorce settlement, the 36-year-old paid an undisclosed amount of money equivalent to her wedding dowry and wedding rings. The two never had children during their marriage.
