Tumblr used to be all the rage. Alongside Reddit, the platform played a significant role in the popularisation of memes. If an image or video received a ton of views, it was almost guaranteed to be transformed into a meme on Tumblr. Today, memes have spread across all social media platforms.
After becoming a meme, you might wonder what the people behind those memes are up to now. Have they gone under the radar, or have they capitalised on their popularity? While we can’t cover them all, here’s what five of them are doing today:
1. Success Kid

You’ve likely seen this adorable baby’s face everywhere by now. The photo behind the “Success Kid” meme originated from a picture of Laney Griner’s son, Sam, trying to gobble up sand, which she posted on Flickr in 2007. He has recently turned 18 years old and is now all grown up. Not much is known about his private life, and perhaps that’s for the best, considering he became an overnight sensation at such a young age.
2. Overly Attached Girlfriend

Who can forget her horrifying stare and eerie smile? Laina Morris is the woman behind the Overly Attached Girlfriend. After first going viral on YouTube, she has since made her name for herself as an internet star. Over the years, she has posted many videos as her character but nowadays, she’s more focused on producing more diverse comedy content.
Don’t worry, the 33-year-old still revisits her beloved alter ego from time to time.
3. Bad Luck Brian

He is literally living up to his meme. Bad Luck Brian became popular after a friend of Kyle Craven posted a high school yearbook photo of him online. Like many of his peers, he attempted to capitalise on his fame by creating YouTube videos, but this venture was short-lived as he struggled to attract an audience. Despite portraying the character for years, Kyle’s Instagram account has yet to reach 10,000 followers, as he only has around 2,000 followers on Twitter.
4. Woman Yells At A Cat

No one expected that this meme would have originated from a traumatic incident. In the photo, reality star Taylor Armstrong is the woman yelling and that specific scene was taken from “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” when she confronted her castmate for outing the abuse she endured.
Years after divorcing her ex-husband, Taylor was surprised to learn that she and a random cat had been turned into a meme but found it hilarious. Back in 2020, she and the white cat Smudge received the Meme of the Year award at the 12th Shorty Awards. The TV personality is still living the glamorous life while the feline’s owner frequently posts videos of it on social media.

5. Side Eyeing Chloe

Unlike the other memes on this list, the real name for the toddler behind the ‘Side Eyeing Chloe’ meme is actually Chloe Clem. The famous judgemental expression originated from a video of her and her older sister Lily reacting to news that they were going on a surprise trip to Disneyland.
The latter was overwhelmed with excitement which prompted the former to give the concerned-looking response. Now at 13 years old, Chloe continued to post content online with her parents’ supervision and management.
