Whether you’re in the mood for a swoonworthy romance or to immerse yourself in a futuristic world, there is a bunch of new and upcoming Korean shows that are sure to deliver an exciting binge or two. What sort of new adventure are you keen to embark?

A dystopian world where deliverymen are your secret heroes? A reality show with 24 women struggling to survive 5 days on a deserted island? A healing story between a mother and son? The heartwarming yet intense coming-of-age story? Or everyone’s all-time favourite enemies-to-lovers plotline? Take your pick from these newly-released and upcoming Korean titles:

“Black Knight”

If you’re a fan of the survivalist genre with a nuanced and fashionable twist, buckle up for “Black Knight”. Set in an apocalyptic future where the entire world has become desertified due to pollution, deliverymen called the ‘Black Knights’ are humanity’s only lifeline. Everyone aspires to be a ‘Black Knight’, but the bar is high as these elite deliverymen must have the skills to navigate and fight through the dangerous streets of the sand-covered Seoul to safely deliver oxygen and necessities to people.

Packed with eye-catching outfits, hardcore-looking trucks, and cutting-edge visual effects, this dystopian sci-fi series also boasts a powerful cast consisting of Kim Woo-bin, Song Seung-heon, Kang You-seok, and Esom.

All episodes of “Black Knight” are now streaming on Netflix.

“The Good Bad Mother”

Whether it’s hope for a grand revenge, a heartwarming renewal of a mother-son relationship, or the satisfying journey of the underdog fulfilling his dreams, “The Good Bad Mother” has all the elements everyone loves.

Lee Do-hyun, who recently starred in global hit “The Glory”, plays an ambitious and cold-hearted prosecutor in this rollercoaster of a drama alongside Ra Mi-Ran as his strong-willed and strict mother. However, when a tragic accident left him with the mind of a child, he moves back to his hometown and the duo embark on a journey to heal their relationship.

“The Good Bad Mother” is now streaming on Netflix, with new episodes every Wednesday and Thursday.

“Siren: Survive the Island”

YouTube video

If you enjoyed “Physical: 100” and are a fan of recent titles headlined by strong female characters such as “The Glory”, “Kill Boksoon”, and “Queenmaker”, don’t miss this gripping reality combat survival show where 24 strong, skilled women are plunged into the wild unknown of a remote island for a week-long challenge.

These fearless competitors come from diverse professional backgrounds, including police officers, firefighters, bodyguards, stuntwomen, military personnel, and athletes. They will form teams, strategise, and battle it out to be the last group standing.

Even the most basic decisions will have dire consequences, making every move a calculated risk. How will these experts, each a master in her own field, navigate this unfamiliar terrain? Which traits will prove most essential for survival — strength, endurance, or cunning?

Uncover the answers when “Siren: Survive the Island” premieres on 30th May.

“Bloodhounds”

Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi star as two young boxers who are thrust into the perilous world of loan sharks when they band together with a benevolent moneylender to take down a ruthless loan shark who preys on the financially desperate.

This upcoming series packs a punch with adrenaline-fueled action and intense, high-octane fight scenes that will leave you on the edge of your seat, while also showcasing a sense of purpose and camaraderie among determined youths and good-hearted individuals.

Don’t miss this epic tale of best buds standing up for what’s right when “Bloodhounds” premieres 9th June on Netflix!

“King The Land”

YouTube video

Ah… the classic enemies-to-lovers trope, an all-time favourite of K-romance enthusiasts!

Starring K-pop idols Lee Jun-ho from 2PM and Im Yoon-ah from Girls’ Generation, the highly-anticipated rom-com follows Won, the heir of a large conglomerate group with a troubled past, and Sa-rang, the ‘smiling queen’ employee who works at one of Won’s many branches. Due to a misunderstanding, the duo starts off on the wrong foot, but finds themselves running into each other frequently against the backdrop of an unsolved mystery involving Won’s mother. In short, it’s got all the makings of a sweet rom-com with a dash of intrigue in one package.

“King The Land” premieres 17th June, with new episodes every Saturday and Sunday.
