2024 has certainly been feeding us with a wealth of entertaining horror films such as “Smile 2”, “Speak No Evil”, “The Subtance” and “Longlegs”. From the teasers and trailers released so far, let’s hope that 2025 will be an even bigger and promising year for films in this particular genre.
For this article, we’ll be listing down some of the upcoming horror projects set to make their way to the big screen and streaming platforms. From psychological thrillers to zombies to demons, we got it all. So, without further ado, here are some of the scary flicks you won’t want to miss in 2025:
1. Wolf Man (17th January 2025)

It’s been some time since we had a truly scary werewolf film. The upcoming 2025 release serves as a reboot of the classic “The Wolf Man” from 1941. The story centres around a family who moves into a new home after the mysterious disappearance of the main character’s father. One night, under a full moon, they are suddenly attacked by a werewolf, and that’s when things take a turn for the worse.
2. The Monkey (21st February 2025)

These cymbal-banging monkey toys have always been creepy, so it’s no surprise that a film featuring one is on the way. From the creator of the disturbing hit “Longlegs” earlier this year, this film tells the story of a man who believes his father’s vintage toy monkey is somehow responsible for the unexplained and gruesome deaths occurring in the area.
3. Vicious (28th February 2025)

Dakota Fanning has been back in the game for quite some time, starring in projects such as “The Watchers” and “The Perfect Couple”. The former child actress will next star in the upcoming horror film “Vicious”, alongside Kathryn Hunter and Mary McCormack. The 2025 film will revolve around a woman who spends the night fighting for her life as she slips down a rabbit hole contained within a gift from a late-night visitor.
4. Sinners (7th March 2025)

Director Ryan Coogler is making his horror directorial debut following the success of “Black Panther” and “Creed”. “Sinners” stars Michael B. Jordan, who will play twins Elijah and Elias, two brothers who discover something evil waiting for them after returning to their hometown.
5. The Woman In The Yard (28th March 2025)

Danielle Deadwyler will be starring in the upcoming 2025 horror film “The Woman in the Yard”. Not much is known about the plot but according to the official Blumhouse Productions website, the story is about a woman in black who mysteriously appeared in a family’s front yard. No one knows where she comes from, why she’s there or when she’ll leave.
6. 28 Years Later (20th June 2025)

Two decades after the first film “28 Days Later” and 18 years since the sequel “28 Weeks Later”, fans are finally getting the third instalment of this beloved zombie franchise titled “28 Years Later”. The film will explore the remains of the world after it was largely destroyed by the Rage Virus. However, survivors will now have to learn to adapt once again after discovering that the virus has returned to infect people.
7. M3GAN 2.0 (27th June 2025)

Your favourite killer robot is back! At present, there’s not much information about the sequel, but we do know that Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will be reprising their roles as Gemma and Cady. The official trailer for “M3GAN 2.0” has yet to be released, although it was reportedly teased at this year’s NYC Comic Con. However, Entertainment Weekly recently unveiled new preview images from the upcoming film. From what we can see, M3GAN has definitely been upgraded and will soon be slaying in cinemas near you.
8. The Conjuring: Last Rites (5th September 2025)

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will be reprising their roles as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in the upcoming “The Conjuring: Last Rites” film. Michael Chaves is set to direct the project and while the plot is currently unknown, it is confirmed that this will be the final instalment of “The Conjuring” franchise. Let’s hope they end it with a bang.
Honourable Mentions
1. Frankenstein (TBC)

“Nosferatu” isn’t the only classic horror film getting a reboot. Guillermo del Toro announced that he’ll be working on his latest project “Frankenstein” which will have a star-studded cast. Oscar Issac is reported to be playing the role of the scientist, Victor Frankenstein, with Jacob Elordi set to assume the role of the iconic monster.
2. Fear Street: Prom Queen (TBC)

In 2021, Netflix introduced its film series, “Fear Street”, which basically tells the story of a group of teenagers attempting to break the curse that has haunted their town for centuries. Four years after the release of the third instalment, “Fear Street Part Three: 1666”, a fourth film is finally on the way. “Fear Street: Prom Queen” does not yet have a release date, but the plot will centre around Prom Night and the mystery of the disappearing girls who were running for Prom Queen.
