Earlier this month, fans bid farewell to international celebrities who passed away, leaving behind their loved ones and legacies. As January comes to an end, sadly, more stars have left us too soon.
It’s always hard to say goodbye, but we’ll always have something to remember them by. From a local rapper to a legendary athlete, here are some of the celebrities who have passed away recently:
1. Jojo One Nation Emcees
Yesterday (Sunday, 26th January), local hip-hop group One Nation Emcees confirmed the news that member Jojo, real name Nur Hasan Balas, has passed away from a heart attack. Rapper Mimifly paid tribute to her former member on Instagram saying, “If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have known the meaning of love and friendship. I’ll always remember you.”
2. David Lynch

Award-winning filmmaker David Lynch passed away earlier this month, although the exact date was not provided by his family. Although the cause of death was not specified, the late director was previously diagnosed with emphysema after a lifetime of smoking. “There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the doughnut and not on the hole.’ It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way,” his family wrote on Facebook.
3. David Gaskell

Another sports legend has sadly left us. David Gaskell, known for being Manchester United’s youngest player back in 1959, has died at the age of 84. David was just 16 years old when he first joined the team. He still holds the record for the youngest player to make their debut for the club.
4. Gloria Romero

Known for being the Queen of Philippine Cinema, actress Gloria Romero has reportedly passed away over the weekend at 91 years old. Her daughter Maritess Gutierrez confirmed the news saying, “In this time of loss, our family deeply appreciates the support, prayers, sympathy, all the lovely messages, and heartfelt condolences that we’ve received. She will surely be missed dearly”.
We’d like to express our deepest condolences to the friends and families of these stars. May they find strength during this challenging time.
