The aviation industry’s downfall due to the Covid-19 pandemic has caused retrenched airline workers to resort to other options to make a living.
A former air stewardess that was affected by the situation, had decided to open a food stall, in order to sustain herself and her family during this tough period.
Former air stewardess, Nur Shareen Mohd Zaini, didn’t stop the hustle as she currently sells “Nasi Kukus Ayam” along with her mother and sibling at Taman Lavender Heights, Senawang. Shareen, who is a single mother, decided to look for other alternatives after she was laid off back in March.
According to a local portal, the compensation she received from her retrenchment was not sufficient, causing her to start the business in order to get by. It didn’t take long for her “Nasi Kukus” stall to boom with recognitions from locals in her area, with some referring to it as “Nasi Kukus Pramugari”, which leaves a hint to her previous profession.
It was reported that she started with a capital of only RM200. It was worth the risk as she managed to sell 50 packets on the very first day. Since her story went viral, netizens were quick to react by giving their support to the former stewardess, and also complimenting her food.
