For A Much Needed Long Weekend Getaway: 5 Things We Love About M Social Resort Penang

If you’re planning a trip to Penang but would prefer not to stay in the city centre, we may have just the place for you. We understand the hustle and bustle the city brings, and while that can be exciting, sometimes you simply want a spot to unwind without being completely cut off from civilisation.

We had the amazing opportunity to enjoy a 3-Day-2-Night stay at M Social Resort Penang. Located in the vibrant coastal suburb of Tanjung Bungah, the resort is the perfect retreat for travellers drawn to art and culture, with iconic attractions like Gurney Paragon Mall and Penang Street Art just a short distance away. Here are some of the things we enjoyed during our recent little long weekend getaway:

1. A Room With A View

With 318 rooms and suites spread across two wings, the hotel offers stunning views of the island’s northern coastline and beachfront, whether from the rooms or the poolside. The room we stayed in on the 19th floor provided a perfect vantage point over both the beach and the cityscape in the distance. Another feature we loved about our room was the AI assistant installed in the smart clock. By simply saying “Hello AI”, the friendly digital assistant was ready to offer its available services. Although still in its first phase, we were told that future updates will transform the rooms into fully smart rooms, with the AI able to carry out commands such as switching off the lights, closing the curtains and turning the TV on or off.

2. A Peaceful Beach

M Social Resort Penang offers guests direct access to the beach. While it may not be the most breathtaking stretch of coastline, visitors can still enjoy sunbathing, a game of beach volleyball, having a picnic, or simply snapping photos for their social media feed. Do note, however, that Penang’s beaches are notorious for jellyfish, so before taking a dip, be sure to check the waters and avoid venturing too far. We didn’t get to enjoy the ocean, but we did have a lovely time watching the sunrise and sunset.

3. The 24-Hour Gym

If you happen to check in on your workout day, but are afraid that you might not have time to hit the gym, don’t worry. M Social Resort Penang’s fitness centre is accessible 24/7, and you’d only need your key card to enter. The gym is equipped with your basic needs, like exercise bikes, free weights, strength training equipment, treadmills, and weight machines. We took the chance to try out the facility in the middle of the night, and although it’s not advisable to work out that late, we certainly enjoyed the peace and quiet.

4. The Mouth-watering Meals

During our long weekend stay, we had the chance to indulge in the wonderful food at M Social Resort. We enjoyed delicious meals at the resort’s signature restaurant, Beast & Butterflies, where authentic Penang and international cuisine take centre stage. Although we did not manage to try out the pool, we did sample some of Breezy Bites’ offerings – and even the lightest snacks were enough to leave us satisfied.

5. The Penang Hospitality

We had not been to Penang in some time, but it was wonderful to be reminded of the incredible hospitality and warmth of the locals. Not only were the staff at M Social Resort exceptionally helpful throughout our stay, but there was also something about the atmosphere that made us start each day with a smile. We also caught a glimpse of the strong sense of community among Penang-born stars who took part in the limited-time pop-up event and panel discussion.

Overall, we had a wonderful time at M Social Resort Penang. We hope to return in the future – perhaps for a longer, more leisurely holiday.
