In recent years, it’s getting apparent that a lot of Malaysians are relying more on food delivery services since it’s very convenient. With only just one click, the food can be delivered to their door steps.

However, food delivery is not an easy job. In this case, food riders are often exposed to various circumstances – weather, traffic, rude customers, etc… But if one puts in the hard work, the payoff can be satisfying. The matter was first brought to light by Twitter page Urban Hartanah (@twthrtanah).

Slip gaji rider Foodpanda bulan 3. Kata rider, ciduk dengan tenang, tak langgar lampu merah. Cuma pinggang + motor kena rajin servis.

The Twitter page had shared a screenshot of a pay slip received by a rider for the popular food delivery app FoodPanda. As seen in the photo, the rider had earned a whopping RM5k for the month of March. “The rider said, ‘Just keep calm while doing your job. Do not run the red traffic light. You only have to spend on your motorcycle maintenance, and also for the (medical) service for your back pain,'” the caption reads.

With over 1.4k retweets at the time of writing (Friday, 1st July), the Twitter post had since gone viral on other social media platforms as well, namely Facebook.  Needless to say, the posting was also met with tons of responses online. Many netizens have flooded the comments section with their two cents on the matter.

Here are some of the comments that we found on social media:

Despite earning well from Foodpanda, some pointed out that riders are among the highest % who die in road accidents. Based on the hours put in, this particular rider works over 8 hours per day to make ends meet.
