Food Review: Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s Neptune’s Feast Seafood Buffet Dinner At The Courtyard

We’ve all had those days – days when we simply crave some delicious seafood. But, by some unfortunate circumstance or other, there’s not a restaurant that serves delicious seafood to quench your desires. And if there were an alternative, it’s either too far to travel to, or too expensive to even justify.

But what if we told you that there’s a place that can sate your seafood cravings that not only serves a wide variety of options, but is also reasonably-priced and easy to travel to?

Introducing Pavilion Hotel’s Neptune’s Feast Seafood Buffet Dinner Menu – a refreshing spread that merges everyone’s deep-sea platter wish list with Malaysian classics for an unforgettable experience. With a long list of dishes to satisfy those with varying tastes, this carefully-curated buffet has something for everyone.

This special feast is served in the hotel’s very own The Courtyard, a sophisticated and elegant dining hall that would make anyone who sits and dines there feel like royalty. And how couldn’t we feel like that? From the wide space, the plush seats, and gorgeous chandeliers, the ambiance of restaurant alone is a feast for the eyes. If you’d like fresh air with your order, there is the outdoor dining area complete with a waterfall feature and strings of fairy lights to make your dinner a bit more magical. But we’re not there for the furniture — we’re there for food!

As it was a seafood menu, of course we went ahead and helped ourselves to aquatic delights, and by Neptune himself, there were plenty. The options were as vast as they were fresh and delicious. They ranged from a cold seafood bar, grilled seafood, hot seafood dishes, freshly sliced sashimi, beautifully made sushi and also, lobsters. If you’re a lover of any of these dishes, then you have to try them. There is also a variety of sauces and toppings for you to enhance your dishes to suit your tastes.

Though each offering was delicious and varied, we felt as though the selection was not wide enough. The reason we have this opinion is because the menu also had a large number of non-seafood dishes, far larger, in fact, than the seafood dishes. When we inquired about this, it was explained that it was to offer alternatives to those who can’t or don’t want to eat seafood. Though we understood the reasoning behind it, it was still underwhelming to see that the dessert bar had more choices than there were sushi.

With that in mind, it begs the question: how did the rest of the dishes fare? Quite amazingly, actually.

As mentioned earlier, the buffet had a wide range of options for you to indulge in, from Malaysian classics to exotic French cuisine, all the way to Italian fusion – it was a foodie’s happy place. If you happen to stop by, we do recommend the roast duck, the truffle pizza, the seafood pasta salad, and the salmon coulibiac.

Of course, a buffet would not be complete without its deserts to tie it all together. The moment you enter the dining hall, you are greeted by a long table packed to the brim with various sweets, local favourites and exotic foreign treats.

We indulged in massive pies, tarts, macarons, chocolate mousses, cakes, and ice cream. Anyone with a sweet tooth will instantly ascend to the pearly gates with the number of choices on offer (for one reason or another).

Believe it or not — all of that was only the tip of the iceberg. We couldn’t have enough of all they had to offer, and even then, there were still plenty of dishes we didn’t had the opportunity to try. With a net price of RM138 per person, we can safely say that this dinner option is for those who are looking to treat themselves and their loved ones to an affordable, and delicious, gastronomical adventure they won’t soon forget.
