Fairytales don’t always have a happy ending, do they? It’s over for Fergie and Josh Duhamel.
The shocking revelation came last night (Thursday, 14th September) when the famous Hollywood couple announced that they have called it quits after 8 years of marriage.
“With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year. To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family,” reads the joint statement released by the former flames.
Fergie, 42, and Duhamel, 44, who got married in Malibu in January 2009 after dating for 5 years, are parents to a 4-year-old son named Axl Jack. Although they are no longer together, the parents are still amicably co-parenting their little guy. There were even rumours that the pair was still trying to have another baby last year.
Fergie and Duhamel’s break up may come as a surprise to many fans but multiple sources claim that they have been having problems for awhile now. “They completely grew apart. This was a long time coming and they’ve been trying to sort everything out this past year,” said an insider while another added, “They are both really good people and committed to their son, but they are too different to make it work.”
According to E! News, the action star doesn’t fancy living in the limelight, while the pop star is heavily focus on her music career at the moment. The 42-year-old singer is getting ready her new album titled, “Double Dutchess”. It is her first record since releasing “The Dutchess” back in 2006.
So what went wrong between the couple? A source explained, “He was so enamoured with her in the beginning that he overlooked things like lifestyle and commonalities. It caught up with them. It just became very clear that they are not on the same page and don’t see things the same way.”
Fortunately, there is no bad blood between Fergie and Duhamel. “There wasn’t one big fight or final straw. They have a lot of love for each other and for each other’s families,” another insider shared.
