The critically acclaimed movie “Mother Bhumi” is finally coming to Malaysian cinemas! To celebrate, the cast and crew, including actress Fan Bingbing (范冰冰), will make their way around the country to meet fans!
After much anticipation, “Mother Bhumi” is set to premiere in local cinemas on 14th May 2026 (Thursday). In celebration of the premiere, director Chong Keat Aun (張吉安) will lead Fan Bingbing, Bai Run-yin (白潤音), Natalie Hsu (許恩怡), and Pearlly Chua (蔡寶珠) on a tour to meet fans across the country! The press tour will take place from 10th to 14th May 2026.

For their appearance in Kuala Lumpur, the cast and crew will be at Centre Court in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 10th May 2026 (Sunday), from 4.30pm onwards. They will also make an appearance at the screening at Aurum Theatre at The Exchange TRX on the same day. The tour will then continue to Johor, Melaka, Penang and Kedah.
Inspired by folk legends of a witch in the paddy fields of Kedah, “Mother Bhumi” is set in the 1990s, where land disputes in a Siamese village give rise to strange phenomena. A farmer by day, she transforms into a ritual healer by night, healing her community, resisting dark forces, while confronting deep-rooted tensions of borders, ethnicity, power, and patriarchy.
Blending magical realism, female empowerment, and land issues, the film earned 8 nominations at the 62nd Golden Horse Awards, winning Best Leading Actress, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Film Song. With her powerful portrayal of the “Kedah Witch”, Fan Bingbing also won her first Golden Horse Best Leading Actress Award.
