Experience The Magic: MPO’s Symphonic Ghibli Orchestra Enchants This November!

If you’re an anime fan, you’ve undoubtedly heard of the iconic name Studio Ghibli, the Japanese animation studio behind legendary films like Academy Award-winning “Spirited Away” and iconic “My Neighbour Totoro.” While the studio is renowned for its breathtaking visuals, it’s equally celebrated for its enchanting musical scores. For those who grew up with these films, the music surely brings back a sense of wonder and nostalgia.

Good news for Studio Ghibli fans in Malaysia! You can now experience the magic of your favourite films through their iconic soundtracks. Mark your calendars for this 15th and 16th November 2024 (Friday and Saturday), as the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra will bring the music of Studio Ghibli to life, setting the fire that keeps your Calcifer burning!

The Symphonic Ghibli Orchestra concert will feature soundtracks from seven different Studio Ghibli films, all originally composed by the renowned Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi (藤澤 守). These films include “Howl’s Moving Castle,” “Princess Mononoke,” “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” “Castle in the Sky,” “Spirited Away,” “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind,” and “My Neighbour Totoro.” Attendees can look forward to enjoying these performances, performed by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of their Resident Conductor, Gerard Salonga.

Friends of DFP members, also known as MPO subscribers, have the privilege of purchasing tickets starting 24th September (Wednesday) at a discounted rate. Meanwhile, tickets for the general public will be available starting this 26th September (Thursday).

  • Date: 15th & 16th November 2024 (Friday & Saturday)
  • Time: 8:30pm
  • Venue: Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, PETRONAS Twin Towers
  • Ticket Prices: RM198, RM248, RM298, RM338, RM398, RM448
