In case you did’t know, we’re only 3 days away before the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games kicks off in South Korea.

Julian Yee, Malaysia’s figure skater is all pumped up and excited to become the first ever Malaysian to compete in the Winter Olympics.

To commemorate Julian’s unprecedented achievement, Samsung Malaysia created a short film entitled “Julian and His Magical Skates”, which was shown to the media during his send-off party at Element Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The film was also launched to coincide with Samsung’s Do What You Can’t campaign.

Aside from capturing Julian’s journey from a tender age up until the moment he became a professional figure skater, what really made the film memorable is the fact that it was created entirely using a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Mr Yoonsoo Kim, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics said that Julian’s success story is the perfect match for Samsung’s Do What You Can’t campaign – because Julian defied all odds to rise to the top and achieve the impossible.

“We are reaching out to this generation of doers, people who go out and make things happen. We want them to know that if the phone in your pocket can do anything, so can you,” Mr Yoonsoo Kim said.

“So when the opportunity to support our first national figure skater Julian Yee came about, we jumped at the chance because Julian is a prime example of what it means to Do What You Can’t.”

“Against all odds, Julian is today an Olympic contender in a sport that isn’t even common in Malaysia – and for that we are very proud of him and we hope others would see him as an inspiration to achieve greater things,” he added.

For Julian, he hopes that his story will inspire all Malaysians to achieve their goals and dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem.

“My story is a tale of Do What You Can’t because I really did; and I want to remind everyone out there that young or old, you CAN achieve your dreams and you will be surprised that you CAN actually do what you never thought you could,” Julian told the media during the send-off event.

“With innovations and advanced technology in today’s world to help make things easier, none of us should be held back by “ifs”, “buts”, or “maybes”. We should all have that burning spirit to achieve the impossible – and from here on out, it should be “yes”, “can”, and “Do What We Can’t”!” he added.

Julian also said that he’s all pumped up and looking forward to head off to South Korea for the winter games. “I’m feeling all kinds of emotions right now. I’m excited, scared, happy. My emotions will probably change everyday, especially inching closer to the games. Right now, I’m really excited go over to South Korea and see how’s everything going to be.”

Good luck Julian! We’re all rooting for you! 🙂
