Encore Melaka Theatre Poise To Debut In July 2018

Encore Melaka Theatre is set to open to public on 1st July 2018, and will host a visual feast like never before.

Brought to you by Datuk Wira Boo Kuang Loon and directed by Wang Chaoge, “Encore Melaka” will feature world-class performances that focuses on Melaka’s heritage and culture as well as touching life stories of the locals.

“I’m a Melaka boy and I’ve always wanted to do something for my hometown. To be honest, I felt shy whenever my friends from overseas visited me because besides bringing them to the historic sites in the daytime and maybe host them for dinner, there’s nothing to show them at night,” said Datuk Wira Boo.

In a press statement, the CEO of Yong Tai Berhad, a tourism and cultural-related property developer, stated that he believes “Encore Melaka” will elevate Melaka’s status as the ultimate tourist destination in Malaysia when they “hear the true voice of the local community”.

He added, “We are pushing the envelope for performance art – the integration of storytelling with innovative stage technologies is never-seen-before in Southeast Asia. Performed by a dedicated local cast of 200 who have trained and rehearsed for over 4 months, we are giving the audience an immersive experience.”

“Encore Melaka” is the first “Impression Series” project outside of China. With a total seating capacity of 2000 audiences, this state-of-the-art theatre has a few unique features including a 360-degree rotating audience platform, multi-stage, and a 240-metre wide stage.

The official description of Encore Melaka Theatre reads:

“The theatre comprises of blue and white, colours of purity and eternity. The simplicity of Encore Melaka Theatre reflects the unpretentious society inviting the world o the compelling story of Melaka.”

  • Premiere Date: 1st July 2018
  • Duration: 70 minutes
  • Venue: Impression City, Kota Laksamana, Melaka
  • Ticketing: From RM168 (More info here)
  • Showtime (for July 2018): 8:30pm (Weekdays), 5:30pm & 8:30pm (Saturday), 2:30pm & 5:30pm (Sunday)
  • Showtime (August onwards): 5:30pm & 8:30pm (Monday – Saturday), 2:30pm & 5:30pm (Sunday)
