Now that the restrictive movement order is in effect, everyone is seemingly on high alert. However, a recent incident at a mall this week has alarmed locals.
There have been rumours circulating online that 2 coronavirus-infected individuals recently visited the Tesco supermarket in Wangsa Walk Mall. Some assumed that they are connected to the individuals who attended the tabligh in Sri Petaling.
In addressing the issue, Wangsa Walk Mall has just reposted an official statement on its Facebook page. It reads:
“Regarding the recent video circulating in various social media about a shopper fainting in Wangsa Walk, we would like to clarify that the shopper has been sent to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia have not contacted us since.
As for another video about a woman in black dress fainting in a restaurant – (it was) not in Wangsa Walk. We would like to urge all parties to be more responsible and stop spreading unverified post in social media and/or Whatsapp to avoid any unnecessary speculation and panic.”
Similar to many other malls in the Klang Valley, only the essential outlets and F&B restaurants are open in Wangsa Walk for the time being.
No word yet if the elderly man had contracted Covid-19.
