A year after one half of the Douyin internet celebrity duo 马来堂哥 (Malaysian Cousins Brothers), Chen Chen (辰辰), got married, Edison Ang (洪伟邦), the other half of the duo, revealed good news. He apparently tied the knot with his girlfriend of two years on Valentine’s Day (14th February)!
The couple reportedly registered their marriage at the Kedah Chinese Assembly Hall yesterday with their family and friends in attendance. The joyous occasion delighted many, none more so than Edison Ang and his newlywed wife, Rinko Lim (林姵铃)!
According to Edison, he and Rinko, a wellness rug artist, met two years ago before deciding that as his career was starting to stabilise, it was time to start a family together. “We didn’t plan to register (our marriage) on Valentine’s Day,” he shared. “It just so happened that we both had time (on that day).” Still, the duo took care to appear in matching pink outfits, fitting for both the day and the occasion.
Of course, Edison’s parents were present for the marriage registration while Rinko’s eldest brother Dato’ Sri Christopher Lim Seong Joo, chairman of the Seng Group of Companies represented her family on her behalf. Both Edison’s dad and Rinko’s brother were witnesses for their signing. Notably, Chen Chen was unable to attend as he reportedly had been in Penang at the time.
The marriage registrar presiding over their ceremony implored them to love and respect one another, while warning them that marriage was not to “stir things up”. He also joked that Edison, famous for his videos about durian, needed to be careful, otherwise his wife might punish him with durians, to which Edison said: “She wouldn’t do that!”
Edison Ang and Rinko later revealed that they were planning to hold their wedding banquet in September at Alor Setar. For now, the newly married couple reportedly have plans to visit China with Edison’s family next week to pay respect to his ancestors.
